Academic and Career Planning Parent Night
|
Parents wanting to learn more about supporting their students' career and college goals are welcome to join us for a
Parent Night on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Jack Young Middle School Auditorium.
This action-packed evening will include:
* D
efining academic and career planning for a 21st Century student;
* Sharing the online career- and college-planning tools our district is using with 6th-12th grade students so that parents can engage in the process alongside their students;
* A chance to talk with teachers about the many options available to students depending on their interests and passions;
* A presentation by UW-Baraboo/Sauk County staff about what they look for in incoming students; and
* A panel of local business leaders ready to talk about the skills, qualifications and personal traits they are looking for in future employees.
This free event will leave parents with the tools and knowledge to engage with their students as they prepare for life beyond high school. Hope you can join us!

Parent Donates $700 to Autism Program
|
Local chef and Baraboo parent Tony Teasdale donated $700 to the Baraboo School District Autism Program this week.
Teasdale held a raffle for a chance to win a five-course meal prepared by him and one of his associates at Quindt's Towne Lounge.
Teacher Hayley Hawkins said the district will use the donation to support outings into the community for her students with autism.

Upcoming Concerts
|
The Baraboo School District will be hosting the
Music Solo and Ensemble Festival this year on
Saturday, Feb. 25 at Baraboo High School.
Hosting this event is a great honor for the district, and we will have approximately 1,000 visitors in our building from four different school districts.
Help is needed to run this event successfully! The music department is seeking volunteers for room monitors, concessions, runners and various other tasks. Please email Kathy Bullock at

if you can volunteer time or food items to help make this event a huge success for our young musicians!
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
The Baraboo High School Vocal Music Department is performing a
Madrigal Dinner on
Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Al. Ringling Mansion.
The catered dinner will include a Wassail Toast, Rustic Cheddar Bread, Sansa Spinach Salad, Pork Osso Bucco with Pheasant Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Root Vegetables and Croissant Bread Pudding.
Tickets are $30.

Mrs. Ruff Gives Back at ABE
|
In April 2016, the Herb Kohl Foundation honored Al Behrman Elementary educator with their Fellowship award and a $3,000 stipend. Al Behrman Elementary received a matching school reward of $3,000.
Mrs. Ruff is passionate about literacy, and decided to use $1,000 of this award to purchase a new book for each ABE student in grades K-5.
We are #Barabooproud of Mrs. Ruff for being such a skilled and passionate educator and for so generously giving back to our district!

Military Appreciation Night for Hockey Team
|
The Thunderbird Boys Hockey Co-op will host a
Military Appreciation Night on
Jan. 19, with
all proceeds going to the
Baraboo 21 Memorial.
All military personnel, past and present, will have free entry to the game.

During the event itself, the team will have the National Guard Honor Guard play the National Anthem. BHS Civics Teacher Steve Argo will offer a brief summary about the Baraboo 21 Memorial, and the team will acknowledge each branch of the service by inviting those in attendance to stand up and be recognized.

Kids Dance Clinic
|
The Poms Squad will host a dance clinic for kids on grades K-5 on
Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Baraboo High School cafeteria. The cost is $20.
The kids will get to learn a dance created by the Poms Squad. After the morning session, the kids will return to the high school to perform their cool routine at halftime of the basketball game (game begins at 2:30 p.m.). The kids will receive a t-shirt to wear for the performance, which they get to keep.
