The Union Corridor Professionals (UCP) Group is an area exclusive group for the businesses along the Union Corridor. JA Volunteers Needed
Junior Achievement (JA) ) is looking for volunteers to teach financial education programs to high school students in Jefferson County. Individuals are specifically needed to teach certain programs at the designated schools such as Lakewood High School, Bear Creek High School and Columbine High School. Programs range from Personal Finance to Be Entrepreneurial and Career Success. On Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 there will be an open house from 12:00-5:00 pm. This open house will include tours, cooking demonstrations, food and catering tastings, beer, wine and more. There will be an official ribbon cutting with the City of Lakewood at 1:00 pm. on Saturday.

Lakewood Estates Reopens

The reopening will start at 9:30 a.m. and continue throughout the day starting with a ribbon cutting with the orginial scissors used for the grand opening in 1986 with lunch and bands to follow.  Throughout the day there will also be food, champagne toasts, prizes and more. League of Women Voters Book Club 
Moderate Republican and New York Times columnist David Brooks described his reaction to Ta-Nehisi Coates' letter/book to his son (the "talk" Blacks have with their sons) titled Between the World and Me as "a slap and a revelation." The book, Brooks says, is "...a great and searing contribution to...public education" on current relations between whites and Blacks in this country. The nonfiction book club of the Jeffco League of Women Voters, a county with an African American population of about 1.3 percent as of July 2015, will try to understand Coates' perception of reality during two April meetings for more information, contact Ellen Stiner at [email protected].
