Agency Spotlight:

YMCA of DeKalb County
Early Learning Center

"The YMCA of DeKalb County Early Learning Center is a level 3 Paths to Quality provider. The program is going through a year long Self Study to become Nationally Accredited with the Association for the Education of Young Children. During the self-study, the goal is to look at areas in the program that can be enhanced to help the center achieve a higher quality. Some of the areas that we are looking to enhance are the science areas in every classroom.

With the grant monies received from the United Way of DeKalb County, we will be able to purchase light tables, measuring units, research equipment, etc. In this way the children can learn through hands on exploration about the world around them and the elements in it.

The mission of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is to promote high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. We advance a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

We are grateful to receive a grant to be able to help us become a NAEYC Accredited Center in DeKalb County so we can better support the children and families in our care. Thank you United Way from all of us at the YMCA of DeKalb County Early Learning Center!"
