President and CEO Louis L. Levine Honored for 40 Years of the National Labor & Management Conference
President and CEO Louis L. Levine, who has a distinguished resume in labor, from his service under three governors of New York State to his work with the AFL-CIO, founded the National Labor & Management Conference (NLMC) in 1977, 40 years ago. The NLMC provides a forum for the critical contemporary issues affecting both labor and management.

Dr. Parker Stresses Foot Health to Seniors

Clinic Administrator of the Foot Clinic of New York, gave her first presentation about the Importance of Podiatric Health for the Harlem Health Advocacy Partners on January 31st at the Johnson Houses Senior Citizens Community Center, 1833 Lexington Avenue.  About 30 seniors attended the event.

Public Health Club Conducted a Shoe Drive ...

Members of the NYCPM Public Health Club collected shoes during the holidays for donation to the West Harlem Residence, for which the club holds an annual drive. The shoes, contributed by attendings, staff and students, were being packed up in mid-February for the trip to the family shelter by members of the club, including, left to right in photo above, Club President Adenike Sonaike, Grace Tsai, Michelle Diaz, Sam Naenifard, Daniele Cole, Simran Chabbra, Erato Giokas, and Michael Paula. 

... and SNPMA Ran a Coat Drive

Coats were collected by the NYCPM branch of the SNPMA (Student National Podiatric Medical Association) for donation to Harlem House, an AIDS relief residence. Members of the club are shown with the initial part of the donation; the students anticipated receiving several dozen more coats before the contribution was complete. Shown with the coats were, left to right in photo above, members Adenike Sonaike, Tinisha Ricks, Caroline Tippett, Angelica Emeakoroha and Jennifer Chow. Club President Shalanda Hall could not be present for the photo.
Residents Honored at NY Podiatric Clinical Conference
As featured in the Feb. 1 issue of
PM News, two residents were awarded first and second prizes at the Residency Forum at the New York Clinical Conference in late January, which was supported by the efforts of Drs. William Spielfogel ('89), and Ron Soave ('82). Adam Falivene, DPM ('15) , PGY2-SUNY Downstate Medical Center (left in photo), and
Reem Sheikh, DPM, PGY3 and Chief, NYCPM/Metropolitan Hospital (right), took first and second place awards respectively.  Fourteen programs presented academic case reports. 
Second Community Lunch Provides Lots of Food for Thought

The second NYCPM Community Lunch focused on the economy, a subject of great concern to many at the College. The speaker was Daniel Gould, a senior manager at TIAA (above), who discussed the economic outlook for the US from within and from a global perspective. Armed with a number of charts, he walked attendees through the outlook for the markets, bonds, trade, corporate tax reform and possible rate hikes by the Fed, all while attendees ate their lunches in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Mr. Gould managed to impart a great deal of useful and practical information within the hour.
