The Way: "The Way Down"
This week we hear from a reluctant prophet, Jonah, who is on a journey of his own. This story is about feeling far from God, especially when the way that God is calling us seems too difficult to bear and everything seems hopeless. All of us have spent time in the depths, praying for deliverance, praying for a second chance, taking a wrong turn in our journey, faced what we perceived as an insurmountable challenge, or simply run away from the call of God in our lives. Our deliverance might look nothing like we thought that it would and all the running that we did away from something, might have brought us closer to it.

We would like to invite any who are interested in playing handbells to join our newly-revived handbell choir. We will play again for Easter Sunday, April 16, so we will begin rehearsing on Wednesdays, starting TODAY, March 15, at 6 PM in Room B of the Methodist Activity Center (MAC). 03/19/2017 - Pet Blessing
Our Tweens are hosting a Pet Blessing this Sunday, March 19, 2017. It will be held in the tent on the pumpkin patch property at 455 Ball Street at 1:30 PM. The Pet Blessing Service, led by Rev. Jenn Pick and Rev. Grant Palma, will be followed by individual blessings for each pet with the help of the Tweens. There will be pet treats and people refreshments served. This is a free event, open to all in the community! We would like everyone to bring their crated or leashed pets to be blessed. Kirby Davis, Accounting Specialist
We would like to welcome Kirby Davis to our staff as our new Accounting Specialist. Kirby previously worked for CitiBank as a General Accounting Manager and Sr. Control Analyst. He and his wife, Janice, attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. Stop by and meet Kirby in the main church office! Family Ministries is excited to be hosting our 2nd Annual Glow Night, a Family Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic, on April 8! ALL are invited, whether you have kids or not! Please bring blankets or chairs for your family. We'll be in the Ball Street Lot near the Botanical Gardens (where the pumpkin patch takes place) from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Chic-fil-a will be provided along with bounce houses and games. We will be asking Sunday school classes to "adopt" some eggs to be filled starting March 26, and completed no later than April 2. Sunday Safety Monitor
Do you love to keep kids safe?  Do you need to get a few extra steps in?  Then call Patty so you can join our Safety Monitor team.  We have several parents and pastors who take one Sunday a month to walk Children/Youth hallways and greet families and monitor entry doors and classrooms. The coolest part of the job is you get to carry a walkie-talkie!! If you would like to volunteer contact [email protected] or 817-481-2559 x129. Must be MinistrySafe trained!!

Thrift Shop Needs
If you are spring cleaning in the coming weeks, please remember The Thrift Shop.  Thrift is in need of household/kitchen and decorative items and linens. Children's summer  clothing is also needed. You may drop off items during business hours,  Tues.-Fri.9:00-11:30 AM, Sat. 9:00-11:00 AM or place them in the big blue Drop Box.

MinistrySafe Training Updates
Two years ago this April, our church rolled out the MinistrySafe plan that was adopted by the Central Texas Conference. Everyone who participates must renew their background check and online training every two years. Many of you will be in need of your two year training update beginning in April. When your training is due, you will receive an email from Lori B. Wolfe with the background check form attached and a deadline date. You will also receive an email from MinistrySafe which will include a link to the online training. Please be timely in completing your MinistrySafe training so you may maintain your safe volunteer status and keep impacting lives for Christ.

Food for the GRACE Food Pantry
We collected 92 items last week. Don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! GRACE is low on condiments, salt and pepper, ramen noodles, juice, pasta sauce, dry pastas, canned meat, and canned fruit. Visit the GRACE website for a full list of needs. If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.

Feed Our Kids Spring Break

Tweens
Our tweens spent a day of their Spring Break visiting with the people of Dancing River, a local senior living center. Then they came back to the church and went through a time of spiritual reflection using the Prayer Labyrinth. Thanks, tweens, for caring for our community and leading the way in learning spiritual practices.



Youth Costa Rica Mission Team
The youth are having great adventures in Costa Rica this week! Today's update from Angie Vaughan:

Today, our team had the honor of visiting both the school and church in Quiriman. It was an example of how God's plan is oftentimes better than our own. We anticipated doing VBS with the younger students; however, we worked with the older students instead. We had an AMAZING question/answer session about the differences between our cultures. Then, we visited a classroom of Spanish-speaking youth learning the English language. I have said these words so many times, but I must say it again. THIS GROUP OF YOUTH IS PHENOMENAL!!!!
