FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Opening Reception for the NHCC Art Museum Exhibit ¡Aquí Estamos! The Heart of Arte is March 5
ALBUQUERQUE, NM. 2/28/17-   The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) will be hosting an opening reception on Sunday, March 5, to launch ¡Aquí Estamos! The Heart of Arte , which celebrates the NHCC Art Museum's growing permanent collection with a revitalized vibe and a brand new selection of works. The free public event will run from 2-4 pm and will include light refreshments.

The NHCC Art Museum's collection contains approximately 2,500 artworks by Hispanic, Chicana/o, and Latina/o artists from around the globe, most of which have been generously donated to the museum by artists and collectors. It reflects the diversity of Latina/o art and expression in all of its vibrancy, creativity, pointed humor, and social consciousness. The NHCC Art Museum exists to support and engage the work of these artists and share their creations and their stories with the broader community.

¡Aquí Estamos! The Heart of Arte exhibition was a collaborative project by NHCC Visual Arts staff and interns who combed through the collection and worked together to decide which pieces should welcome in 2017. The sampling of art in this exhibition explores the contributions of these artists and how each work can serve as a reminder of the heart that thrives in strong and resilient communities.

The NHCC Art Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission fees are $6 for adults (17+) and $5 for New Mexico residents (17+). Admission is free for youth (16 and under); NHCC Foundation members; seniors (60+) on Wednesdays; veterans and US active duty military personnel between Memorial Day and Labor Day; and New Mexico residents on the first Sunday of each month.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Hispanic culture, arts, and humanities, and is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.
