Code Issues:
What's Wrong With This Picture?

The pictures shows an illegal tap on the supply side of the meter. Not only is this illegal it is extremely dangerous with potential fatal consequences.
The service in this picture is an overhead service feed from a pole mounted utility transformer. From the utility transformer these conductors run overhead to a service mast located on the dwelling. The extreme DANGER in this illegal tap is that this wiring where the tap was made does not have any over current protection on the primary side of the meter. This illegal practice to steal power unfortunately is extremely hazardous and poses a serious fire hazard, not to mention potential loss of life.
