Stories Project Launches at Community Fundrasier
Charles Armstrong School turns 50 on October 5, 2018 and the festivities kick off this October (2017).

As part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration, Armstrong is collecting stories from its alumni about how Armstrong impacted your life.

We will launch our Story Project at the Community Fundraiser.  Please stop by the Alumni Area to video your story.

We will also have a booth at EdRev at AT&T Park on April 22, 2017.

The project will continue all year and shortly, we will share details about how you can share your story if you can't visit one of our Story Project booths.

As you prepare to share, consider these questions...

  • What is one lesson you learned at Armstrong that sticks with you today?
  • What is one of your favorite Armstrong memories?
  • Who shaped your experience at Armstrong?
  • How has Armstrong changed your life?
  • When it comes to your Armstrong experience, for what are you most grateful?
  • What is one word that sums up your Armstrong experience?
  • What makes Armstrong special?
  • What advice do you have for the school as it continues to educate dyslexic learners today?

Alumni Update
Leigh Ganschow
From our Facebook page.  Leigh -- thanks for sharing!!

I am a graduate from the Armstrong School - now 45 years later. I think I attended from approximately 1967 to 1972. I went from the Armstrong School and back to a public school at the age of 12 (skipping over 6th grade and going right to 7th.) The transition to public school was hard, but I got support from the Armstrong school when I needed it most. I can't imagine what my life would have been like without the skills I learned while I was at the Armstrong School (which at the time was in Menlo Park.) In my life, I've read thousands of books I wouldn't have read without the reading skills and alphabet recognition exercises I went through. I remember fondly the physical programming I was taught at the Armstrong school to help me recognize the shape and sounds of letters (A - Apple - "ahh" while writing an "a" in the air with my finger.) I make my living evaluating the written word (mostly regulations) and writing business communications (emails, corporate policies, and training classes) and I stand in front of people and make presentations and conduct training. I'm a college graduate. I could never have achieved what I have without the Armstrong School. I'm fortunate that my parents cared enough to take me out of a public school and searched to find somebody who could help me with my dyslexia. I'm fortunate that the school even existed back then and had solutions to my education difficulties. Reflecting on and counting your blessings is a good thing. I'm glad I ran into this facebook page so that I could offer support to parents who might be thinking "Can this school help my kid?" It helped me.
