ClassE is where we grow entrepreneurs and nurture success. Read about what we have been learning.

Location: Lifespan Center (unless noted below), 11021 E. Cty. Rd. 800 N. Charleston (Loxa Rd just northeast of SBLHS).  Class is open and everyone is welcome.

Appraising Property

Dan Corrie, owner of Corrie Appraisals, defined what an appraisal was and the three ways to value a property. He discussed how location and other factors come into play to make these decisions.

We also discussed the rental prices in the different parts of town and ways businesses stay flexible when the demand fluctuates.
Pricing for Value

Leading with the Heart

Kevin Dowd led the book discussion on Leading With the Heart about Duke's Coach K. This book discussed how to build your team and learn more from your losses that your win. Great lessons for both business and sports!
Checking Supplies

Thanks to a grant from the Charleston Charitable Foundation, we have received drapes to be used at the trade show each year. The students learned to check all the boxes and make sure all of the product was delivered and in good shape.
Learning about Business Titans

After our work was completed, we continued to watch The Men Who Built America series. It discusses entrepreneurial history but also highlights ethical decisions made and how legislation has been passed to break up monopolies.
We are so thankful for the generosity of the Coles County businesses that sponsor ClassE. For a complete listing and more information about these businesses, please click below.  We also appreciate the that the Lifespan Center serves as our home base throughout the year. We hope you support them as they support us!
