Principal Message:  February 23, 2017

Dear Parents,

As part of the LISD Graduate Profile, to "work for justice through community service," our 3rd graders opened the Leopard Café. For the past two days, our third graders managed, served, entertained, and cleaned their café while raising money for the Allen Community Outreach. We are very proud of our 3 rd graders for hosting an amazing restaurant that raised $2,689.50.  We appreciate all of our families that contributed to making the restaurant a huge success!

With the warm weather and longer days, it seems that the Craft household is getting very busy.  Spring is always a busy time of year, and I have noticed many tired faces in the halls of Lovejoy Elementary. According to the National Sleep Foundation, " babies, children, and teens need significantly more sleep than adults to support their rapid mental and physical development. Most parents know that growing kids need good sleep, but many don't know just how many hours kids require, and what the impact can be of missing as little as 30 to 60 minutes of sleep time."  When students are tired, it is much harder for them to learn.  Below, is a chart of recommended sleep from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft
