Preparing for Unexpected Turns on Career Path & Leadership

Don Swikert, M.D., wanted to be a physician "for as long as I can remember." But while the various turns his career path has followed weren't necessarily in his plans, he believes he was ready for them, in part, because of his involvement in organized medicine groups like the Kentucky Medical Association.

Don Swikert, M.D., left, received his 2015 CCLP award from Brent Wright, M.D., KMA Board Vice-Chair. Also pictured is Don's wife Nancy Swikert, M.D., a 2015 CCLP graduate and 2016-17 KMA President.

President's Message
Sign up Today to be a Leader for Medicine and Patients

Being a physician automatically puts you in a position to be a leader in the view of your patients and the public, especially in the rural community. Patients look to their physicians for answers to health questions, help with insurance/billing, legislative advice on voting, disease prevention and more.

Are you ready to be that leader?
