"The inspiration for this work came from exploring the relationship between technology and identity. From reading books on marketing techniques and fictional dystopias, to listening to Noam Chomsky and exploring art works based on statistical data, a theme of distraction appeared. We the people are distracted and enough so that we miss out. While media and technological advances connect us to the world, they also lead to the missed interactions between one another. We're disconnected, pointing the finger at one another versus working collectively to create change. Consumed is a conversation in how we can do more for ourselves and one another by taking action. It's a conversation about thoroughly listening to the information provided to us. More importantly, Consumed is a conversation that explores how we can update our American dream for our modern, technological world."
