Plaza Health Network Introduces New Telemedicine Technology To Its Seven Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Centers

Plaza Health Network, an award-winning network of seven rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers, is now implementing interactive telemedicine technology in partnership with Sunrise-based Duxlink Health, allowing for the rapid, real-time and remote monitoring of its patients. The program rolled out this quarter at all seven of Plaza Health Network's facilities spanning throughout Miami-Dade County.

The HIPAA-compliant technology continuously collects and monitors patient vital signs, conditions and clinical information. When blood pressure, oxygen saturation, glucose levels or an electrocardiogram shows sudden or irregular changes, that data is immediately transmitted to the appropriate physician or care provider, resulting in decreased hospital readmission rates, and in turn, reduced costs and less stress on the patient.

"Our network has demonstrated a longtime commitment to helping our residents recover as safely and quickly as possible, and this remarkable technology joins the list of the many services we currently offer at our centers to ensure the highest quality of care," said Elaine Bloom, President and CEO of Plaza Health Network.

Physicians such as cardiologists, neurologists, dermatologists and pulmonary medicine specialists whose patients reside in Plaza Health Network centers access the Duxlink Health system via an application that includes a video conferencing feature to communicate with the centers' nursing professionals caring for their patients.

"The physicians in our network have shown great receptivity so far as this technology provides them with quicker access and more opportunities to have interpersonal interactions with their patients and clinical care providers at Plaza Health Network," said Ann-Lynn Denker, PhD, ARNP, Chief Clinical Officer of Plaza Health Network.

Plaza Health Network's clinical staff has been formally trained to administer the Duxlink Health technology.
