This Sunday we celebrate the Transfiguration of our Lord. 
RESULTS OF OUR 
CHILI COOK-OFF
KICK OFF

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Chili Cook Off Kick Off- the competition was stiff! Congratulations to our winners! 
3 rd Place went to  
Elizabeth Phillips for Bacon & Pinto Bean Chili. 
2nd Place was a 3-way tie between
Allen Ray 's "This Changes Everything" Chili,
Corinne Feid 's "Non-Life Threatening" Chili, and
Hannah Ward 's White Chicken Chili.  
Our Chili Champion was Colin Gillette 
for "Gillette's Hellfire Chili"!  
Of course, the true winners were those who got to taste so many chilies! 

Remember, you can return your "Gathering" donation envelopes to Pastor Rachel until March 26th. If you would like to support the Youth, donation envelopes can be found on the Welcome Desk.  
+ Pub Theology

Pub Theology is back! Pub Theology started with one of our former vicars, Jared Lee, several years ago.  
After taking a break, we'd like to start up again, meeting at breweries 
for beer and discussion.  

Join us  Thursday evening, 
March 2 at 7:30 pm
for conversation and the beverage 
of your choice. We will be meeting at 
the Blue Ghost Brewing Company, 125 Underwood Rd in Fletcher .  

We will continue to meet every 
first and third  Thursday

Women's Wellness Weekend at Lutherock

Women of all ages need to take time to get away and focus on their own wellness.  Hannah Ward and Jenny Feid would like to encourage others to join them at beautiful Camp Lutherock  April 21-23 for a weekend in which, according to the program description, "We will focus on ways we can take care of ourselves physically, spiritually, and mentally.  The weekend will be filled with fellowship, Bible study, and various wellness opportunities."

We are going to be starting handbells once again, this time with Amber Wollner as our director. We are glad to have anyone join us for the first rehearsal, which will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at 7PM. 

No expertise is required - we'd be happy to have you even if you only want to ring one bell!

Thank you to all those members from Nativity who are joining us on our bus day trip to the Belk Theatre in Charlotte on  March 11We have 31 folks going. It should be a great event.  We will be stopping at a great BBQ restaurant in Belmont, NC called Peace'n'Hominy "Q" shack for 
lunch before heading into Charlotte for the show.

+ Highlights from our Annual Congregation Meeting

+The congregation received the Annual Reports bulletin unanimously. 
+Paul and Colleen Calderone were elected as Nativity's Voting Members to the annual Synod Assembly in Greensboro. 
+Meredith Neal and Fred Park were elected to the Endowment Committee.
+We approved the Endowment Committee's recommendation to disburse the endowment funds to our seminarians and to our quilters. 
+Treasurer Kathleen Treiber reviewed financial information. 

We extend grateful thanks to all who participated by submitting reports and attending the meeting.

Nativity Choir:  meets weekly, Wednesday nights at 7 PM. We are rehearsing regularly, but more singers are always welcome to join! 

Young Youth Choir: meets weekly at 3:45 PM on Sunday afternoons
NOTE: This week we are hoping to have the Young Youth and their mothers, whose voices we will need for a special combined piece. Join us! 

Youth Choir: meets weekly at 4:30 PM on Sunday afternoons. 
NOTE: The Youth Choir will meet this Sunday to have a brainstorming session for this year's musical. Youth Group starts right after choir practice. 

Campfire Choir: meets monthly. Check the church calendar for the next meeting. 
+ opportunities from the altar guild

Would you like to find out more about the Altar Guild and what it does? Then plan to come on Saturday, March 18, 2017, 9:30 am in the fellowship hall for an  Altar Guild get together and a pot luck brunch. All are welcome - just RSVP.  A good meeting is planned with Pastor Gregg sharing thoughts and ideas and listening to your thoughts and ideas as well.  Come and experience stations of the cross (not all 14 - just 7), make an Easter craft, and sign up for the stripping of the altar on Maundy  Thursday (April 13).

New! Saints for Our Times
What is a saint? Are there saints throughout Christian traditions and histories worth learning about? Come find out March 12, 19, 26, and April 2, as we meet between worship services and explore together the lives of several saints through the centuries, and what their lives can mean for us Christians today. This forum is for confirmed youth and adults.

Intergenerational Faith Formation - Renewed
Intergenerational Faith Formation will continue through the spring! This class is open to all members of all ages (including those previously in the "Building Blocks" class). We will meet in the Middle/South Fellowship Hall.

Nativity Women will meet on  Thursday, March 9 at 11 am  in the fellowship hall. We welcome all women to our study of John's Gospel. Bring a bag lunch and join your sisters in Christ in fellowship and study.


The Nativity Card Ministry will meet on  Thursday, March 9, at 12:30 pm in the fellowship hall to make beautiful cards for our members on the prayer list. The cards are assembled under the direction of Ruth Tracy and no artistic talent is needed. All are welcome to participate.

GIFT

GIFT - Growing In Faith Together - is an event for our entire Nativity family!  Come spend time in fellowship as we learn and grow together.  Our first GIFT event will be April 2, from 4-7:30 - our topic is "Generosity."  
Dinner will be provided.  We are excited about this first event and topic, and look forward to more GIFT events in the future.
