| Bridging the Talent Gap Survey |
The Bridging the Talent Gap survey is being conducted around the state by the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Managers as part of a statewide initiative.
The Bridging The Talent Gap Survey, which will be used to identify organizations' skills shortages across the state of Kentucky, is being administered through Chambers of Commerce and other groups around Kentucky.
While unemployment may be improving, the state of Kentucky is still experiencing a shortage of skilled talent. We want to capture your organization's data to help state policymakers, educational institutions and training providers better understand the urgency of these needs and take action.
IMPORTANT:
It generally takes 30 minutes to complete this survey. You must finish the survey to be considered a participant. Be sure to "Submit" when finished with the survey.
If you get interrupted with work, no problem! You will be able to return to the place where you left off by utilizing the "Save and Continue Later" function located at the top of each page of the survey.
When completing the survey, answer the questions based on the skills issues in your local area only. For the purposes of this survey, think of the term "skills shortages" as any instance in which the knowledge, abilities or work place attitude of job applicants or employees is not consistent with the needs of their positions.

Community Police Forum 
On February 16, the Boyle County Safe Communities held a Community Forum with Danville Police Department Chief Tony Gray, Jr. and Assistant Chief Robert Estill, and Boyle County Sheriff's Department's Deputy Sheriff Casey McCoy. Both agencies shared information on their departments and answered questions.

Chamber & BPW host social gathering

The B
usiness & Professional Women and the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce hosted a social gathering of women business owners and managers on Feb. 21. This was a first with about 16 women spending an hour or so visiting at Bluegrass Pizza and Pub.
Those gathered enjoyed the comradery and networking and plan to make this a quarterly event. The next one may be an outing to see Angela Correll's newest play

Workforce Development Community Wide Meeting
|
 Lyle Hanna, of Hanna Resource Group and the KY Society for Human Resource Managers, and Beth Davisson, with the KY Chamber Workforce Center, shared information on the Bridging the Talent Gap survey. 
45 people, representing 37 organizations and businesses, are attending the first community wide workforce development meeting. Convened by the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce, it is a first step to bring together diverse groups tackling the workforce issue. Plans are to have a series of meeting through the year to find solutions. See the story feature in the Advocate Messenger

Cheddar's hosts February Business After Hours
|
 
Cheddar's General Manager Jimmy Berketis and his staff hosted the Chamber's February Business After Hours. Members enjoyed an exclusive tour of the kitchen to see how their house smoked baby back ribs are cooked. Members also learned about their scratch cooking and saw the staff it takes to cook from scratch. Cheddar's notes they have double the number of cooks compared to other restaurants to make everything fresh for their customers. Members then enjoyed the delicious ribs and their spinach dip and chips while networking their own businesses with other Chamber members.
