The construction industry's biggest night was celebrated at Heinz Field on Feb. 23 as the Mast Builders' Association hosted its 10th Evening of Excellence. The 2016 Building Excellence Awards winners were announced. Congratulations to:

Landau Building Co. - honored for Excellence in Craftsmanship for the Allegheny Country Club Master Plan Phase 1
Mosites Construction - honored for New Construction Between $10 and $25 million for Carnegie Mellon's Jared L. Cohon University Center 
Turner Construction Co. - honored for New Construction Over $25 million for Tower Two-Sixty
A. Martini & Co. - honored for New Construction Under $10 million for Poros Restaurant, 2 PPG Place
Mascaro Construction LP - for Renovation Construction Over $30 million for Union Trust Building Renovation
PJ Dick Inc. - honored for Renovation Construction Between $10 adn $30 million for UPMC Presbyterian University Hospital Phases 1-4
Rycon Construction - honored for Renovation Construction Under $10 million for Liberty Center Lobby


Project News  

The start of the school bidding season is underway. Nello Construction was the low bidder on the $24.7 million new Latrobe Elementary School. Yarborough Development & Construction was low on the re-bid of the $7.8 million South Park Eagle Stadium. 

Massaro Corp. is doing a GMP for the $40 million Campus Advantage Spruce apartments in Morgantown. PJ Dick is starting construction on the Marriott Oaklander Hotel at the PAA site. Rycon was selected for the $4 million, 36,000 sq. ft. build-out for McGuire Woods at Tower Two-Sixty. Massaro was awarded a $3 million contract for a new pedestrian bridge at Western PA School for Blind Children in Oakland.
