Interfaith Lenten Program
This year's lenten program begins soon and we hope you will plan to attend!  On five Wednesdays during Lent, we will join together with Emmanuel, Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, the Temple House of Israel, and the Islamic Center of the Shenandoah Valley for a pot luck meal, conversation, and talks. Our theme this year is  Holy Things:   Holy Books , Holy Messengers , Holy Symbols,   The Holy One, and  Holy Life.  So plan to bring a labeled pot luck dish each Wednesday to the place designated below. We will eat at 6:00p.m. and the program will begin around 6:30, ending at 7:00p.m. 

March 8       at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 936 Sudbury Street
March 15     at Trinity Episcopal, 214 W. Beverley Street
March 22     at Islamic Center of the Shenandoah Valley, 1330 Country Club Drive, Harrisonburg
March 29     at Temple House of Israel, 15 N. Market Street (Vegetarian Day!)
April 5          at Emmanuel, 300 W. Frederick Street.

You are invited to the Hospitality Committee meeting in the Foster Room of the Parish House on Sunday, February 26 following the 11am service. Everyone is welcome to come and see if joining the hospitality committee would be a good fit for your God given talents!
Name Plaques
We have a dedicated volunteer who would like to make a wooden name plaque for any child at Trinity. If you would like one of these for your child please email communications@trinitystaunton.org with the first name (or go by name) of your child.
Christ Episcopal Church Celebration!
Christ Episcopal Church in Roanoke invites you to attend their 125th Anniversary. They have planned several events and you are welcome to attend:
  • Feb. 26 - Groundbreaking Anniversary Festive Party
  • June 4 - Choral Evensong at 5pm
  • July 30 - Cornerstone Laying Anniversary Homecoming Luncheon
  • April 1, 2018 (Easter) Centennial Celebration of the First Service in Christ Episcopal Church
In Case You Missed It!: Honduras Mission Trip Blog


The Rev. Paul Nancarrow has faithfully kept a blog for each day of the Honduras Mission Trip (the missioners all arrived back home in the wee hours of this morning all safe and sound!). You can read his blog on our website or you can also download the blog in a convenient PDF. Either way please check out the good works that have gone on this past week and please contemplate supporting the Youth Honduras Mission Trip which will take place this summer. If you would like to donate to the youth Honduras mission trip please send a check with that designation to Trinity. Thank you!

SACRA Sunday
Today is SACRA (Staunton Augusta Church Relief Agency) Sunday: To donate, please use envelopes in your pew or write a check with SACRA on the memo line. SACRA is a completely volunteer-operated agency which pools the outreach and relief funding of local churches to provide help to those in need within the local community.
TODAY Food for Allen Chapel's Pantry
Canned meats, such as chicken and roast beef, will be collected TODAY to distribute through the Allen Chapel food pantry program.

Trinity members are invited to NNA's annual Winter Soup Social on February 26 in McCracken Hall from 5 to 8 p.m. Please bring a salad or dessert to share.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper


Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6pm in McCracken Hall. Prepared by Junior and Senior Youth. Your freewill offering will go toward the youth mission trip to Honduras in June, 2017.
Burning of the Palms
The Burning of the Palms Ceremony will be at 6:45pm on Tuesday, Feb. 28 on the Labyrinth.
Novel Theology
Meets next on February 28 at 7:00pm in the Foster Room of the Parish House to discuss The Vegetarian by Han Kang. Everyone is invited to attend provided you have read the book! On March 28 we will discuss The Glass Universe: How the Ladies of the Harvard Observatory Took the Measure of the Stars by Dava Sobel (non-fiction).
Ash Wednesday Services
Ash Wednesday is March 1, 2017
  • Services at Trinity: 10:30am and 7:30pm
  • Services at Emmanuel: 7:30am and a service with Stuart Hall (all are welcome) at 12:00pm
Concert and Evensong March 5 at 5pm
Guitarist Chris Wyton will perform works by Scarlatti and Tansman. Chris, grandson of Carl Broman, teaches privately in the D.C. Metro area. His concert will be followed by Choral Evensong, sung by the Trinity Choir.
Lenten Book Study
Rev. Becky will be leading a Lenten book study beginning on Tuesday, March 14th.  The group will meet at 4pm on Tuesdays March 14th and 28th, as well as Tuesdays April 4th and 11th.  The book, Being Christian, by former archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, covers four essential elements of Christian life: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, and Prayer.  Please be prepared to discuss chapter 1, "Baptism," on Tuesday, March 14th.  We will meet in the Senior High classroom in the parish house.
World Day of Prayer
Church Women United invites you to Cherryvale UMC, Cherry Hill Drive, Staunton on March 3 at 9:30am to join in the World Day of Prayer 2017 "Am I Being Unfair to You?" A Glimpse of the Philippine Situation.

Could Trinity be Available to History Lovers
Trinity would like to open its doors during the summer on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings and/or afternoons. If you would like to volunteer once a month or so, June - August, to keep the church open to visitors during any of those times, please contact the office 886-9132 or communications@trinitystaunton.org.
