DFLY REPORT

This most recent winter thaw has certainly led many to wonder - could this be the year that Dragonfly will open in March???  It may be a little early to think in those terms, but you can rest assured that we will open our doors as soon as it is humanly possible!

EXCITING NEWSDRAGONFLY GOLF LINKS turns 20 this year!   Since its inception Dragonfly has taken tangible and yearly strides to improve her overall customer experience.  Its life began as a humble Driving Range in 1992, then nine holes were built in 1996, and it opened in 1997. Nine more holes were built in in 1998, and then opened as an 18 hole course in 1999.  Did you know that the original name for Dragonfly Golf Links was in fact Heritage Valley?  Dragonfly Golf Links has since evolved into an  8 time winner of the Renfrew Readers' Choice awards for favorite golf course , and most recently  Ottawa Golf's choice for "best bang for your golfing dollar", and "best customer service" in 2016!

For these reasons, and many more, our membership and our client base has been growing in a golf market that is  incredibly competitive.  We are so grateful to all of our customers, and hope that you will share in celebrating our 20 th anniversary.

Another reason 2017 is going to be great is because so many of our "star" employees are returning from last year...

First on my list is Dragonfly MVP and Superintendent Donny Valdock , who has been here since the beginning. Donny is suffering from spring fever, and I don't have the heart to tell him that we are still have a few more weeks of winter.  His passion and dedication to all things Dragonfly is unmatched, and though he is a little older than I am, I feed off his youthful enthusiasm and his optimism for the future of Dragonfly. Donny is very proud of what Dragonfly has become, and we are equally proud of him!

It is my strong belief that our Customers return year after year because of the VIP treatment that they receive while enjoying a beautifully maintained golf course. This "treatment" usually begins before a golfer even gets to the first tee, with our Pro Shop Team:  I am thrilled to say that Shawn Mosiondz is returning for his 3rd year. Shawn is known across the Ottawa Valley for his customer service skills, his quirky sense of humour, and for being the popular host of our Thursday night Ladies League. Chris McClure is also returning for his 2nd straight season. By the time that the 2017 season gets underway, Chris will have graduated from Humber College with a diploma in Business (Professional Golf Management). He will be running our very popular Men's Leagues on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. He will also be running a number of Junior Golf Camps here at Dragonfly. Carolyn Carmichael is the 3rd and newest member of the Pro Shop team. Most recently she worked at Calabogie and Pakenham Highlands in their respective Pro Shops. Everyone I have talked to about Carolyn has said that she has a warm, friendly and professional demeanor and her focus is always on providing fantastic customer service. Welcome to the Dragonfly family Carolyn!

From the Pro Shop, our guests are handed off to the welcoming care of our Player's Assistants.
We have at least one PA on every day of the week - usually two. Some other courses call them Marshalls, but we think that that term is too confrontational and limiting.  The role of the PA is to troubleshoot problems before they arise, and to assist our golfers in any way possible with hopes of providing the best golfing experience in the Ottawa Valley. The PA's are an essential piece of our identity, and I am happy to say that we have many returnees from 2016, as well as a few key additions.

Our Food and Beverage team is also receiving a wonderful addition:  Cecille Smith is our new kitchen manager, and she comes to us with a ton of experience.  Cecille has done everything in Food & Beverage from owning her own deli and catering business, a head cook, a manager, and a Sales Representative for the likes of Sysco and Summit Foods services. She joins forces with returning cook, and local fiddling expert Terri Lynn Smith (Mahusky).  2016 was the best year ever for Dragonfly's Food and Beverage department and we are confident that with Cecille at the helm, 2017 with be even better.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of you for your support.  My first two years as your GM have been very rewarding. I would greatly appreciate the chance to offer you a quote on everything from a piece of golf  equipment, a golf outing, to a wedding and everything in between. Your complete satisfaction is my ultimate passion. For the reasons I have mentioned above, and for other reasons I will share will you in future newsletters, I know that 2017 is primed to be our best year yet!

Yours truly,

Bill Rainboth, General Manager

DFLP 's ARE BACK

Back for 2017...

At Dragonfly Golf Links we appreciate your business and are happy to offer you our Loyalty Points program (Dragonfly Loyalty Points) where our points never expire and no card is required.

You will accumulate one DFLP (Dragonfly Loyalty Point) for every dollar you spend at the course (food, beverages, product or golf).

How do I accumulate points?
The first time you book a tee time or come to play at Dragonfly Golf Links, our awesome staff build your customer profile that includes your name, phone number, email address, etc.

Each time you make a purchase at Dragonfly, it's important to identify yourself to our staff so that you continue to earn DFLP.

At the point of purchase, DFLPs will be added to your profile and your total points (to date) will be printed on your receipt.

Again, it is important to make sure that we are adding transactions to YOUR profile.  As an example, if you let your friend pay for your golf, and you pay him, your loyalty points will be awarded to his profile.

How Do I Check My Balance?
To check your DFLP balance, you can visit or call the Pro Shop or check the total DFLPs printed on your last receipt.

How Do I Redeem My DFLPs?
You can redeem your DFLPs by simply asking to redeem them when you check into the Pro Shop.

What Can I Get With My DFLPs?
Points can be used to pay for anything from green fees, power and pull cart rentals, golf club rentals, range balls and select food items. You can also use your DFLPs for up to 50% on Pro Shop soft good items.

* DFLPs can not to be used in conjunction with regular sale items or for alcoholic beverages.

Are there other things I can redeem points for?
