With all the snow, rain, flooding, mudslides, and road closures we've had recently, it has been a bit difficult to imagine spring. But hang in there: it's right around the corner.
I had a glimpse of it just a few days ago. Songbirds were singing, hummingbirds were humming, and a few early bulbs were stretching greedily towards the sun. Before long, the Eastern Sierra will be awash in the bright colors of spring.

Local deer herds have had a tough time with all this snow. They've been hanging out on the roads, so please be careful. Slower speeds will save human and wild lives. |
And with all this precipitation, this particular spring promises to be a real show-stopper. I can't wait to see the wildflowers and gardens in full bloom.
Speaking of... now is the time to start thinking about
your garden. We're planning for our Pollinator Garden Workshop, annual spring "GardenFest" celebration, and a local garden tour (read below for more). I hope you'll join us at one or all of these fun spring events.

Since 2007, the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP) has restored more than 13,000 watershed acres, monitored more than 2,000 sites, educated more than 165,000 individuals, recruited more than 33,000 volunteers, and contributed more than 475,000 hours of service. SNAP members are on the frontline of protecting and restoring the Sierra Nevada lands you love.
Yet we now stand to lose this important service that AmeriCorps provides. A recent report suggests that AmeriCorps funding may be on the top of the list to be cut under President Trump's new budget plan.
