CIRCAC had a booth at the Alaska Forum on the Environment this month, sharing space with organizations such as Alaska ShoreZone, Prince William Sound RCAC,
Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, and National Park Service, to name just a few. More than 1200 people and 250 partner organizations from throughout Alaska, Canada and the Lower 48 participated in 100 technical sessions or training in topics ranging from climate change and oil spill response to rural Alaska landfill operations. Members of our Board of Directors and PROPS Committee (Prevention, Response, Operations and Safety) took advantage of the many sessions, including Carla Stanley, Michael Opheim and Steve Lufkin.

Its mission is to enhance marine safety and environmental stewardship through collaboration of the maritime community and other stakeholders.The Cook Inlet HSC's primary focus is maritime safety, accident prevention, and waterways management.
HARBOR SAFETY COMMITTEES PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN INCREASING MARITIME SAFETY AND PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
As a member of the Cook Inlet Harbor Safety Committee, you can help guide the development of
Standards of Care and best practices for maritime operations in the Cook Inlet waterway. Harbor Safety Committees help educate and serve as a valuable resource for waterway users. They may provide recommendations to regulatory bodies and seek actions to enhance maritime safety.The Cook Inlet HSC will serve as a subject matter expert for Cook Inlet and help bring together all relevant maritime stakeholders to identify and resolve, when possible, waterway management issues through the adoption of best practices and Standards of Care. The Cook Inlet HSC has already developed Cook Inlet's first
harbor safety plan to enhance maritime safety and promote environmental stewardship.
