EL HAJJ MALIK EL SHABAZZ
 
Tuesday, February 21 marked the 52nd anniversary of the assassination of el-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, better known as Malcolm X.

Known as an outspoken activist and prolific speaker, he made a life-changing pilgrimage to Mecca that changed his focus from African-American centered to include all races and ethnicities .

MOSQUE DAMAGED IN FIRE
 
On Sunday Feb. 19th the building that houses the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara caught fire and the Mosque, which was on the second floor, sustained considerable damage. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined although preliminary reports that it was not arson.

The community of ISSB is devastated. Although their suite did not was not burned, it sustained substantial smoke and water damage and the building structure has been compromised.

A LaunchGood fund has been set up to help re-build the Santa Barbara Mosque. Please assist your brothers and sisters to rebuild their spiritual home.

NEWS
 
As more Jewish communities report bomb threats , Muslim and Jewish groups band together against hate .  
A recent survey ask Americans to rate religious groups , and most feel warmer toward others, even Muslims.

Religious minorities are often depicted as oppressed and vulnerable victims of their Muslim rulers. This portrayal, however, is far from accurate.

The Trump administration is instructing federal agencies to hire 10,000 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, as well as 5,000 more Border Patrol agents. They also have plans to speed up deportation hearings. 
 
As the Oroville, CA dam was overflowing and residents were ordered to evaluate their homes, a local Sikh temple   opened its doors to the evacuees.
