The 2014 IAIA Holiday Market will feature works of art by over 40 artists including Courtney Leonard, Paul Moore, Glenda Loretto, and Kathleen Wall - plus creations by IAIA students and numerous other Native artists.

Our Senior Thesis Exhibition Opening and Reception was held on November 20th, 5 pm, at the Balzer Contemporary Edge Gallery in the Academic Building on the IAIA Campus.  Seniors exhibiting their works include (top photo, L-R): Neva Baird, Mildred Raphaelito, Tahnee Growingthunder, Jamelyn Ebelacker, Shontysa Joe, Edsel Brown, Beatresea Kien, and Azizah Muhammad.  The exhibition will be open through December 11, 2014.

Student Art Show - Morphing Nature: Site Specific Sculpture from Recovered Plant Materials:  November 14, 2014 through April 26, 2015 - Botanical Garden at Museum Hill

This exhibition is located in the Botanical Garden on Museum Hill (715 Camino Lejo), along the Garden's Art Trail, which is accessible for handicapped visitors.  The exhibition will be on display for five and a half months.  Morphing Nature is the first in a series of creative collaborations between the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and educational institution partners across Santa Fe and northern New Mexico.

The exhibition is free to IAIA and SFUAD students, faculty, and staff (with ID) during the day for the length of the exhibit.

Sculptures within the exhibition will be illuminated during the Garden's  GLOW event, which opened on December 4, 2014 and continues on selected evenings through January 3, 2015.  Admission to GLOW is $8 or $5 for members and free for children under 12. Live entertainment will be offered on Saturdays.  You can buy tickets through the Garden's website or at the door.  

Storage conditions for the permanent collections of the IAIA Archives were drastically improved by the installation of a small mobile compact shelving system on November 11, 2014. The Botwin Eye Group of Santa Fe donated the Spacesaver shelves, as they are moving towards a paperless office. Long-time IAIA employee, supporter, and current IAIA Foundation Board member Bob Harcourt (shown) contributed significant funds for the labor to move and install the system. The shelves increase our permanent storage capacity by 160 linear feet and now efficiently hold our photograph collections and the papers of Lloyd H. "Kiva" New and James Luna, among others.

Recently, Peter Kershaw, Adjunct Faculty, Film, arranged to lead a tour for a number of IAIA Cinematic Arts students to visit the Manhattan TV series sets.

To the left (top) is a photo of our students with Nani Rivera the Director of the Santa Fe Film Festival and Sam Tischler the Location Manager for Manhattan.

Richard Gablick, Area Coordinator, Student Housing, at IAIA for the last 3 years, had his film "Daughters of the Rhine", shown on SFCC-TV Channel 16 in Santa Fe.  Richard was also interviewed on KSFR in conjunction with the showing of the film.  His upcoming project, "Together" will be released in January 2015.
