The Art League of Ocean City invites local and regional artists to participate in the annual Plein Air event, "Artists Paint OC," on August 9-13, 2017 during the heart of the resort town's tourist season. Whether it's the ocean, bays and marshes, harbor boats, busy boardwalk or funky shops - it is all here for you to choose from.

The competition will be limited to 50 artists, age 18 or older, on a first-come basis. Entry fee, including quick draw is $40, non-refundable. Artists may sign up for the Quick Draw only for $15.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Wedne sday August 9: *New this year* Early registration will begin at 8am for an optional day of painting. The Art League will host a welcome reception for the artists at the OC Center for the Arts that evening, with a light Eastern Shore dinner. Artists will hear an entertaining talk about the Eastern Shore from distinguished artist Patrick Henry.

Thursday and Friday August 10-11:
Artists will have the opportunity to paint en plein air in scenic locations from dawn to dusk.  
 
Saturday August 12: The highlight of the event occurs at the Arts Center on Saturday evening, with formal jurying of the plein air artwork, awarding of cash prizes and a wet paint sale open to the public.   
  • *New this year* All entries that will hang on display in the Galleria through the month of August will be juried in and these works will be eligible for the competition prizes.
  • Work not juried into the Galleria will be displayed for sale in the two classrooms for the weekend with each artist getting one side of a 36" wide by 72" high standard panel.
 This year's juror is Stewart White, AWS. Stewart is President of the Mid-Atlantic Plein-Air Painters Association (MAPAPA). Stewart is a member of the American Impressionists Society(AIS), a signature member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS), a signature member of The American Watercolor Society (AWS). and past President (2012) of The American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI).
 
Sunday August 13: The Plein Air event concludes with a quick draw competition in downtown Ocean City Sunday morning. Prizes sponsored by Ocean City Development Corporation.
 
The Art League will award more than $2,200 in total cash prizes during the event. Additionally, artwork juried in will be featured during the remainder of the month of August at the Ocean City Center for the Arts.

Limited area home lodging is available for out of town artists on a first-come basis. Requests for lodging must be made in writing and confirmed by the ALOC.
