Be Humble
"Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues; hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist, there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance."

Campbell's is closing the Labels for Education program as of August 1st. You may have already noticed that your soup cans and
other products no longer have a Labels for Education emblem on them.
Please go through your cabinets  and clip the Labels for Education insignia off of all your products and hand them in ASAP.  Here is a list of products which might still have the logo on them:  anything Campbell's, Pace, Pepperidge Farm, Spaghettios, Swanson, V8 products. We can purchase many school supplies with these labels!

March 6, 2017
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
Lent began this past week with a beautiful liturgy. Each of our students filled out the "Sacred Struggle" card and dropped it into the basket after receiving ashes at Mass. We will be praying for these intentions throughout Lent.
This year during Lent, there will be a variety of opportunities for your child to learn and participate in many different types of prayer such as Stations of the Cross (every Monday at 1:30, please join us if you are able), the Labyrinth, and Eucharistic Adoration to name a few. Every class will be participating in Lenten projects designed for their age level and understanding. Two all-school projects are the collection of peanut butter (the 4th graders are leading this project with a goal of 400 jars) and Tuna Tuesdays (collecting cans of tuna). Both of these collections will be going to the Hunger Task Force.

A Blessed Lent to All!

Fat Tuesday Thank YOU!
I love this community! Thank you to everyone who came to our Fat Tuesday celebration. My heart is filled with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways, and it is a lot of people that made the evening a success. Bakers, shoppers, servers, carnival game makers, supervisors, greeters, photographer, and many hands made the evening come together. It is a joy to have celebrated this event with you, to take time to pause and mark the season beginning the next day. May you all have a blessed Lent! There are some candles by my desk if you forgot yours or had to leave before we got to the prayer. ~Angie

Classroom Corner
The 4th graders kicked off the Lenten season by making homemade pretzels which remind us to pray during Lent. Legend tells of a monk in the early 600s who twisted unleavened bread dough into the shape of arms crossed over one's shoulders as a prayer posture. These "bracellae", later called pretzels, were a reminder to early Christians to say their prayers.
The 4th graders also created prayer cards attached to individual bags of 40 pretzels, one for each day of Lent, for their K3 buddies.
