Hembras de Pluma will return to
the
National Hispanic Cultural Center
with a brand new show in March.
Rise: An Offering
is an ensemble piece that weaves movement, personal stories, song, and imagery to lift up generations of resilience, triumph, pain, and navigating the world as women. The show runs March 9-12 and March 16-19 at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. Tickets are $18, with a $3 discount for students, seniors, and NHCC members, and $10 for Thursday shows only. They

"We often grapple with the question - why make art? What we have found in this collaboration is that now, more than ever, art is urgent, vital and women making art is necessary. This offering is an extension of our lives, our reality and we invite people to create community with us," said Monica Sanchez, who is directing this year's production.
"Hembras de Pluma is a collective of Indigenous and Women of Color who share our stories as celebration, healing and creating power in storytelling. Speaking our truth and sharing our stories on the stage are a form of empowerment, engagement with our communities and supporting each other."
The Hembras de Pluma collective is Ozawa Bineshi Albert, Michelle Estrada Allred, Maria Teresa Herrera, Michelle Otero, Valli Marie Rivera, Monica T. Rodriguez, Sylvia Sarmiento and Andrea J. Serrano.
Rise: An Offering
is part of the NHCC's 2017-2018 Siembra: Latino Theatre Season.
