Teachers Honored for Receiving Metro Recognition
As part of
Honoring Excellence this month, Liberty High School teachers
Erin Ramsey and
Amy Ahart were both commended by the Board for recently being selected as KMBC Channel 9/Avila University Teachers Who Inspire. Last month, both Ramsey and Ahart were surprised in their classrooms and presented checks for $900 each and presented with a commemorative award. In addition, the students that nominated them in a video contest, Josie Wilkerson and Hannah Sanders, were also recognized and presented with a $100 award for their participation. Congratulations to both Ms. Ramsey, Ms. Ahart, the students involved, and Liberty High School!

Hiser Selected as Next Principal at Lewis and Clark
At the Tuesday, February 21, 2017, Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed Mr. Mitch Hiser to be the next principal of Lewis and Clark Elementary, effective July 1, 2017.
Mr. Hiser is currently the assistant principal at South Valley Middle School, a role he has held since 2015. He will fulfill his duties as assistant principal at SVMS through the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year before assuming his new role.
"I look forward to starting my journey at Lewis and Clark and being a part of the great work happening there", Hiser said. "I am honored to join a staff and community where students are at the center of every decision. I am also excited to get to know, in greater depth, the staff, students, and parents that make Lewis and Clark the best place to be."
Mr. Hiser has deep roots in Liberty. He is a Liberty High School graduate and began his career as an educator with Liberty Public Schools. He taught K-5 Spanish at Franklin and Lillian Schumacher from 2004-2007, first grade at Lillian Schumacher from 2007-2012, and third grade at Kellybrook from 2012-2014. Mr. Hiser has completed his Bachelor's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, his Master's degree in Educational Leadership, and his Educational Specialist degree in Superintendency - all from Northwest Missouri State University.
Mr. Hiser will replace Kyle Palmer, who resigned from his position last month.

Ways to Stay Informed on Board Happenings |
The public has several opportunities to stay informed of LPS Board of Education happenings. Following, are methods in which monthly Board meetings may be viewed.
Channel 18 Coverage
Liberty Public Schools Cable Television Channel, KLPS-TV Channel 18, records each Board meeting that takes place on the third Monday of each month and replays the meeting for approximately one week, usually beginning the Thursday following the regularly-scheduled meeting. They will be shown daily at 8 a.m. Households need to have Time Warner Cable service to receive Channel 18 programming.
