President's Corner
Dear Kiwanis Club of Omaha,
We are just over one month away from our 2017 Recognition Gala on March 30th, 2017 at the Omaha Convention Center, where we will announce this year's YCPO grant recipients. We received 35 grant applications this year and the decisions were not easy. YCPO is at the heart of our mission and a big thank you goes out to all those who served on the YCPO committee this year.
This year's gala will be particularly special for several reasons. First, Jane Erickson, the Kiwanis International President, will be in attendance and she has agreed to tell us about her experiences with thousands of Kiwanis clubs across the globe. This will be a once-in a lifetime opportunity as the odds of another Kiwanis International President living 15 minutes away in Bellevue and attending our gala are pretty low. Secondly, we decided to reach out to several other Kiwanis clubs in the area including Diamond K, Golden K, and Westside to invite them to join us. We look forward to welcoming them as our guests so we can combine our efforts in advancing Kiwanis' mission. Thirdly, Val McPherson has arranged for 20+ international guests to join us as they learn more about the culture of philanthropy in the United States. This will be a unique learning opportunity for all of us.
Kristen Belford and the gala team have done an excellent job coordinating everything thus far. Now it's up to us to RSVP and invite guests to make this gala our most successful Kiwanis gala yet. Please reach out to Katie, Kristen, or me if you have any questions or suggestions for the gala.
President, Kiwanis Club of Omaha
