The musicians in Cantorei, Sinfonia Orchestra and Symphonic Winds

The Sign Language Club will meet again today, from 2:45-4:45 in Room 125. Everyone is welcome. We'll have lots of fun and maybe some treats... but you'll have to show up to find out!
MSU Moorhead is offering four $2,500 scholarships and two $1,000 scholarships to students who use Twitter to share why they are excited to #BeADragon. This scholarship contest ends on March 3rd. The four $2,500 scholarships will be awarded based on creativity, one $1,000 scholarship goes to the student with the most likes, and one $1,000 scholarship will go to the student with the most retweets.

2017 Twin Cities Scholarship - Incoming Freshmen Only
The WAA: Twin Cities Chapter is offering scholarships to current high school seniors who will be pursuing a degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Students must have been accepted at the UW and currently attending a high school within the Twin Cities 7-county metro area (Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington).
Scholarships are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to academic achievement, community participation and leadership, and financial need. Scholarship amounts vary. Awards are paid directly to UW and applied toward tuition.
Please join us on February 23rd from 1-4 in our Field House for our annual "College and Career Fair"!

St Kates, Century, Pipefitters Union, U of M, National Guard, Bethel, Fairview, Alex Tech, Hamline, Concordia, Anoka Tech, NDSU, the Marines and many, many more.
The Ardent Mills Apprenticeship program is a three year program that combines school time with on the job application for principles
learned in school. Foundational, mechanical, electrical and social skills are developed at
Dunwoody College in Minneapolis, MN and students are encouraged to "Learn, See and Do" through Dunwoody's hands-on learning approach. Additional courses in flour milling will taught by industry professionals to develop knowledge and understanding of flour milling in each student. On the job tasks will include managing operating settings on equipment, performing repairs and routine equipment maintenance, and ensuring product is within customer specifications in a rotating shift position at one of Ardent Mills' four flour milling production facilities in Minnesota. Throughout the apprenticeship program, Ardent Mills pays the employee's salary of 40 hours per week as well as all schooling fees, contingent upon successful completion and employment commitment. Upon successful completion of the program, the candidate will be placed in a full-time shift milling position at one of the Ardent Mills plant locations throughout the United States.

Registration is now open for the Michigan Technological University 2017
Summer Youth Programs!
Students currently in grades 6-11 are invited to participate in more than 50 explorations on the Michigan Technological University campus
ranging from STEM to business
. They'll discover and learn about various fields through hands-on laboratory, classroom, and field experiences while living in the residence halls with other crazy smart students!
Tutoring will only be offered to students enrolled in classes at the high school (we have some 9th graders and ALC students).
Here is the schedule:

"Go Rangers!"
Boys Basketball: Congratulations to the guys on their win over the Moundsview Mustangs Tuesday night 70-56!! Join us this Friday night as the boys take on the Woodbury Royals. The dance line will be there performing at half time! JV and B squad starting at 5:45p with Varsity tip off at 7:15p. Come on out this Friday and cheer on your Rangers. Go Rangers!!
Girls Basketball: Congratulations to the Girls Basketball teams for a successful night in Mounds View last night with all teams getting wins. The JV team remains undefeated this season and the Varsity team is now 11-6.
Nordic:
CONGRATS to the Nordic Racing Squads for some top performances on Monday!
Jenna Parent led the Ranger Girls to a 2nd place team finish with her winning performance!
It was her second conference win in a row. Chloe Foster,Madi Anderson and Amelea Hauer formed
pack to round out the scoring with Anna Stockinger and Jess Nieters climbing the ranks!
The boys were led by super Sophomore Andy Haines with his 4th place finish! The boys scoring in the
pursuit race was finished off by Spencer Kotys,Rhino Mead,Nick Parent and Beck Pope. Drew Sampson
also is flying for the boys on the way to their runner-up finish.
Outstanding racing Nordic Rangers!
Boys Swim & Dive: Incredible... Consistent... Dominating... (and Nerve-wrecking if you were in the stands). Those words come to mind as the Forest Lake Boys Swimming & Diving Team captured its 4th consecutive Section 7AA True Team Championship this past Saturday, scoring 1048 points to lead all teams. The Rangers finished 25 points ahead of the 2nd place Centennial Cougars, who scored 1023 points. This earns the Rangers a trip to the University of Minnesota's Aquatics Center to compete in the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association sponsored True Team State Meet on Saturday, January 28th at 6:00 p.m. Get ready for an incredible week in swimming & diving!

Dates to remember:
- January 18, 2017: Materials given to 10th/11th grade students in advisory with a slide presentation
- January 18-27, 2017: Materials given to CJHS and SWJH 9th graders with a slide presentation
- January 31, 2017: Parent information session @ 6:30 pm - FLHS Auditorium
- February 2 or 8: Open house registration - Select one evening to register between 4-8 pm. Parents and students must attend together. The evening's first stop will be a quick visit to the classroom of the student's advisory teacher. (Advisory teacher and room number are listed on the registration letter mailed to each student) The second stop is a check-in with the student's dean outside the media center. The final stop is at a computer in the Media Center to enter course requests.

Registration Open House
(February 2nd or 8th)
- Students and parents pick one of the two nights to attend.
- Come anytime between 4 pm and 8 pm.
- Meet with advisor, dean, and then complete computer registration.

Registration Night Check List
Before You Arrive to Register:
- Complete the front page of the registration worksheet completely.
- Students should include 14 courses selections and 5 alternates. (Courses that require 2 spaces count as 2 courses.)
- Make sure a career interest is listed to help facilitate discussion of course selections.
- Parents should sign the registration sheets allowing for release of student transcripts.
On the Night of Registration:
- Begin with the student's advisory teacher. The advisory teacher will:
- answer questions as they are able
- review that worksheets are complete and correct
- talk with students/parents about the student's plan for the future
- sign-off on worksheets, and send parents/students to meet with their dean.
- Students/parents will have a brief meeting with their deans to:
- answer questions that remain
- review registration worksheets
- make additional suggestions as appropriate
- Students will then move to computers to input their final registration selections and alternates. When students have entered all requests, they'll be asked to:
- Tear off the back page of the registration worksheet to keep as their record. (Another option would be to take a picture of the back page and turn in the entire worksheet)
- Turn in their course request worksheet before leaving. Deans keep those copies for reference.
- Students do NOT need to print a copy of their course requests. That information should be filled out on the back page of the worksheet.

Clay Target - The Forest Lake High School Clay Target team will hold a Parent and student athlete Information meeting in the High School Media Center on Tuesday January 24 starting at 6:30pm. Forest Lake Area School's American Indian Education Program has begun and is open to Native students interested in learning more about our Native American culture and heritage.
Meetings are Thursdays after school from 2:45-4:30 at the high school in room 544. Students can take the activity bus home. Each week there will be an activity or project focused on the past, present and future of Native American history, culture and current events. If you have any questions please contact us.
School calendar change coming 2017
A calendar shift has been approved by the school board for the 2017-2018 school year. In 2017, the first day of school will be
August 21st and the last day of school in the spring of 2018 will be May 23rd, two weeks earlier than usual. This one-year calendar adjustment will allow extra time in the summer to complete construction projects at many of the district's buildings without disrupting student learning.
The school year calendar returns to normal in 2018-2019, with the first day of school scheduled after labor day and the last day scheduled for early June.
