Hey Rangers! The rangers have talent show is coming up and auditions are going to be February 14th and 15th at 2:50 pm. For anyone who has art that they would like to display the auditions for that is February 10th at 2:45 pm. Sign ups for auditions are outside the Media Center by Student Services. We are looking for a multitude of talents everyone is welcome.

Seniors: The deadline for the
Tozer Scholarship application is drawing near! Applications are done online at the
Tozer website. The deadline for application submission is Friday, February 10, 2017 at 3:30 pm. Turn printed application and two applicant appraisals in to
Vicky Monzel in Student Services by that date.

The College and Career center will be offering the "ASVAB" on Thursday, March 16th from 3-6pm. This is a great opportunity for you to find out what your strengths are and what your career interests are. This is a FREE test. If interested, please sign up with Heather. Karstens in the College and Career Center in the Media Center.
Thursday, April 27th we will be hosting "Century in a Day" from 2:45-5:30. Students can hear about Century College, apply, take the Accuplacer and talk about tuition all in one afternoon and all for FREE!
MSU Moorhead is offering four $2,500 scholarships and two $1,000 scholarships to students who use Twitter to share why they are excited to #BeADragon. This scholarship contest ends on March 3rd. The four $2,500 scholarships will be awarded based on creativity, one $1,000 scholarship goes to the student with the most likes, and one $1,000 scholarship will go to the student with the most retweets. Students can find out more about this scholarship and the scholarship rules at

Tutoring will only be offered to students enrolled in classes at the high school (we have some 9th graders and ALC students).

Rally around the Rangers
"Go Rangers!"
Boys Basketball: Congrats to the guys on their victory 54-52 over Duluth East on Tuesday night! Way to play hard! Join us tonight as the Raptors from East Ridge take on the Rangers at home. JV and B squad starting at 5:45 pm and Varsity at 7:15 pm. It's fan appreciation night. Go Rangers!
Dance: The Ranger Dance Team is hosting sections again this year on Sat. at 11:00. Please come and cheer on FLDT!!

Registration for the 2017-2018 School Year
Dates to remember:
- February 8: Open house registration - Select one evening to register between 4-8 pm. Parents and students must attend together. The evening's first stop will be a quick visit to the classroom of the student's advisory teacher. (Advisory teacher and room number are listed on the registration letter mailed to each student) The second stop is a check-in with the student's dean outside the media center. The final stop is at a computer in the Media Center to enter course requests.
- Students and parents pick one of the two nights to attend.
- Come anytime between 4 pm and 8 pm.
- Meet with advisor, dean, and then complete computer registration.
- More details how to prepare are below.
Registration Night Check List
Before You Arrive to Register:
- Complete the front page of the registration worksheet completely.
- Students should include 14 courses selections and 5 alternates. (Courses that require 2 spaces count as 2 courses.)
- Make sure a career interest is listed to help facilitate discussion of course selections.
- Parents should sign the registration sheets allowing for release of student transcripts.
On the Night of Registration:
- Begin with the student's advisory teacher. The advisory teacher will:
- answer questions as they are able
- review that worksheets are complete and correct
- talk with students/parents about the student's plan for the future
- sign-off on worksheets, and send parents/students to meet with their dean.
- Students/parents will have a brief meeting with their deans to:
- answer questions that remain
- review registration worksheets
- make additional suggestions as appropriate
- Students will then move to computers to input their final registration selections and alternates. When students have entered all requests, they'll be asked to:
- Tear off the back page of the registration worksheet to keep as their record. (Another option would be to take a picture of the back page and turn in the entire worksheet)
- Turn in their course request worksheet before leaving. Deans keep those copies for reference.
- Students do NOT need to print a copy of their course requests. That information should be filled out on the back page of the worksheet.
Forest Lake Area School's American Indian Education Program has begun and is open to Native students interested in learning more about our Native American culture and heritage.
Meetings are Thursdays after school from 2:45-4:30 at the high school in room 544. Students can take the activity bus home. Each week there will be an activity or project focused on the past, present and future of Native American history, culture and current events. If you have any questions please contact us.
School calendar change coming 2017
A calendar shift has been approved by the school board for the 2017-2018 school year. In 2017, the first day of school will be
August 21st and the last day of school in the spring of 2018 will be May 23rd, two weeks earlier than usual. This one-year calendar adjustment will allow extra time in the summer to complete construction projects at many of the district's buildings without disrupting student learning.
The school year calendar returns to normal in 2018-2019, with the first day of school scheduled after labor day and the last day scheduled for early June.
