Public Hearing Regarding Collective Bargaining Negotiations with California School Employees Association (CSEA), Chapter 325
Prior to commencement of collective bargaining negotiations, Government Code requires that the public be provided an opportunity to address the Board regarding initial union and district proposals. A public hearing was held regarding the district's initial proposal to CSEA, which includes contract articles on Wages, Hours of Employment, and Leaves.
PARS Supplementary Retirement Plan Rescinded
On January 19, 2017, the Board adopted a resolution to establish a supplementary retirement plan and offer a voluntary retirement incentive to non-management certificated employees. The number of responses to the offer was not sufficient to meet the district's financial objectives, and the plan was therefore rescinded.
My School Locator Application
The Board approved an agreement with DecisionInsite for My School Locator, a web-based map application that displays school boundaries and identifies the home school associated with a specific address. The application will be made available on the district website. The cost for a one-year license is $895.
Architect Agreement for District Office Property
Following the February 16, 2017, Study Session regarding the District Office property, the Board directed staff to develop an architectural proposal. At the March meeting, the Board approved an agreement with Ghataode Bannon Architects to develop plans at a cost not to exceed $34,000.
Parking Expansion at King School
To accommodate the new State Preschool Program recently opened on the King campus, the Board authorized construction of an expanded parking area. The work will be performed by M.P. South, Inc., utilizing a previously awarded master agreement, at a cost of $94,129.50.
2016/17 Second Interim Financial Report
School districts are required by the state to submit two interim financial reports each fiscal year and certify if the district will (positive certification), will not (negative certification), or might (qualified certification) meet its financial obligations for the current fiscal year and the two succeeding fiscal years. The Board approved filing a positive certification for the district's Second Interim Financial Report.
California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly
Each year, as a member of the California School Boards Association, the Board has an opportunity to elect members to the organization's Delegate Assembly. This year, the Board cast five votes for nine openings in Region 15, which represents school districts in Orange County.
