Mayor Emanuel Speaks at ICNC's Annual Membership Event! 

ICNC held its Annual Membership Event where special guest Mayor Rahm Emanuel spoke about support of The Hatchery and local manufacturing, as well as the successful partnership between ICNC and the City of Chicago. Alderman Walter Burnett Jr. also spoke and expressed his continued support for ICNC. We celebrated recent achievements, like the new Green Line Damen station, and approved our new Board. We look forward to what our 50th year will bring in 2017. Take a look at photos from the event here

Lunch & Learn: Employment Law
Learn about 2017 human resource regulatory changes and requirements commonly experienced by employers, such as paying overtime, ban-the-box, discrimination, and exemption status. Attorney John C. Export Compliance Workshop
Through the onsite or online seminar, the IL SBDC at the College of Lake County in partnership with ICNC, is hosting a 201 Export Workshop. Attendees will learn how to make sure their companies are in full compliance with the U.S. import/export regulations, save on duties and taxes, ensure proper pricing, and much more.

Member Spotlight - Vero Design + Build
Vero Design + Build is a full-service general contracting, millwork, and design company. The two owners Jacob Shapiro and Josh Veselsky worked on projects together for a long time before deciding to make their business official in 2014.

Some of their most notable work was done on Charlatan, a cocktail bar and Italian restaurant in West Town, and Pork Shoppe, a classic American BBQ restaurant in Andersonville. They are currently working on The Publishing House, a highly anticipated bed and breakfast in West Loop.

BareItAll Petfoods - BareItAll is an environmentally-friendly pet food company that finds a use for the invasive, but nutritious Asian Carp along with other limited ingredients from whole food sources. They plan to introduce three new products in 2017 and continue to expand.

Surface Plus Construction Inc. - Surface Plus is a commercial carpentry sub-contractor who specializes in doors, hardware, acoustical ceilings, and more. Development Opportunities
CPS Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Internship: Your business can partner with the CPS to provide CTE Rising Seniors in High School an opportunity to gain experience during the summer. In partnership with One Summer Chicago, all students will be paid directly by the CPS. Businesses from many industries from apparel, food and beverage, manufacturing, communications, and more are welcome to apply todayThe deadline is Friday, March 31st.

Inner City Capital Connections: ICCC is a national program that helps small businesses in economically-distressed areas grow. The 40-hour curriculum combines executive education, coaching/mentorship, and access to potential capital sources. Most companies headquartered in the ICNC incubator and surrounding areas will qualify from a location standpoint. Business Workshops:  The Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) offers workshops every Wednesday and Friday. Workshops vary each month and are conducted by city officials, experts, and partner business organizations. All workshops are free and open to the public. Receive Money Back For Hiring
Receive money back for hiring full-time Chicago residents! ICNC has received funds through TIFWorks 50/50, an employee training reimbursement program issued by the City of Chicago. Applications are currently being accepted. Applicants must be located within the Kinzie Industrial TIF District boundaries. All training must be pre-approved by the City. Monthly Alderman's Meeting
Every month ICNC hosts a breakfast with 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr. These meetings are an opportunity for area companies to discuss issues they have with crime, infrastructure, zoning, and other topics.
