Principal's Message

Parents,

The MW Science Fair is Thursday night from 6-7:30 PM in the MPR. No other night generates as much excitement and high attendance!  Please come see our students and their work in the inquiry method.  As we do every year, the fabulous Mrs. Sicotte presents a STEM challenge to anyone interested.  This year's challenge is :
  • K and 1st...build an apple container that can hold at least 3 apples, has handles and student can walk at least 10 steps.
  • 2nd and 3rd....build a bird nest that can sit in the tree branch (yes, from my tree) and hold 3 eggs and a bird.
  • 4th and 5th...build a catapult that can send a marshmallow at least 6 feet.
Thanks, as always to Mrs. Sicotte for making the science lab such a rich ,  inviting environment where kids learn by doing.  Our community so appreciates the after school help sessions that were offered to assist any student who wanted to participate.  This generosity of spirit is what makes Murwood the best school in the universe.

Thanks, too, to WCEF for funding our science specialist position.  Parents, your generous donations to WCEF makes this kind of exciting, hands on learning - and participation in these extension activities - possible for ALL students.  We are so grateful.

A reminder that our second Master Planning Workshop with WCL Architects is Monday, March 13, in the Murwood Library at 3 PM.  Come participate in the next phase of development!

In June, 2016, WCSD passed a facility bond to upgrade facilities, infrastructure and improve energy efficiency in all Walnut Creek School District Schools.  In November, the Governing Board contracted with WLC Architects to create a Master Plan for the district to ensure we have a comprehensive blueprint to provide students with safe, 21st century learning environments.

Please join us for a second site meeting offered to Murwood staff and community members along with District and Architectural representatives to engage stakeholders in defining the How and Why Schools look different in the 21st Century on March 13th from 3-5 PM.
