The Way: "The Way to Freedom"
For thousands of years, religious people have made journeys of the heart and body as a way of gaining perspective and insight. There are journeys we choose and journeys that choose us. This season has a habit of leaving us in a much different place than it found us. The forty days of Lent is a time to wander deeply into our own wildernesses, to explore what we find there, and walk together for a while, as pilgrims do. Inspired by the passages in scripture that talk about our paths to (and away from) God, we will make our "way" together through this poignant season that culminates in the way to the cross and, finally, the empty tomb of Easter.

One of the purposes of our spiritual formation practices is to help God transform us so that we can serve His purpose when He calls us. Sometimes His call will make us uncomfortable and even fearful. We may try to resist His call because we worry that we do not have the ability or the courage to do what He is asking us to do. We think that surely He can find someone better qualified than us for the job. This is when we need to remember that He will not ask us to do anything that we cannot and that we must rely on our faith that He will supply us with whatever we lack ourselves. Keep reading...
