Client of the Month 
is Evan Horton!

DUFF: How long have you been training at DUFF?
 Evan: I have been training at DUFF since October 2016.

DUFF: What brought you to DUFF?
Evan: My brother Seth Horton works out at DUFF too, and I was in a serious accident (lightening strike) which required some physical rehab.

DUFF: What is your favorite thing about DUFF?
Evan: All the awesome people!

DUFF: What is your biggest
 accomplishment at DUFF? Personal record? 
Evan:  I recently ran a 1:21 quarter mile.

DUFF: What is your favorite exercises and/ or movement in DUFF classes?
Evan: Weighted V ups

DUFF:  What is your least favorite exercise and/ or movement in DUFF classes?
Evan : Weighted lunges

DUFF:  What do you do for a living?  
Evan:  I work for a millwork company locally.  I design and oversee the installation of all things wood, from bars and reception desk to cabinets and trim.

DUFF: What is your favorite thing to do outside of DUFF?
Evan: Brewery's and train for the bridge run!

JDRF One Walk
For a World with Type 1 Diabetes

JDRF One Walk has a single goal: creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). We hope you'll join us this year as we walk and 
raise money for life-changing research for the millions affected 
by this devastating disease.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. If you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin-a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump and carefully monitor your eating 
and activity every single day.
There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D. And-currently-there is no cure. But thereis something you can do to help.
When you join one of the hundreds of JDRF One Walks across the country, the money you raise will support JDRF-the leading global organization funding T1D research. And, you'll have a great time doing it! That's because you'll walk with a committed community that is 
passionate about doing whatever it takes to help JDRF turn 
Type One into Type None.

As many of you know, Anna Duffy, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 11. With the help of exercise and nutrition, she is able to actively manage her diabetes. Anna has always believed that she controls her diabetes and not to let her diabetes to control her. This April, Anna and Andrew Duffy, will be welcoming a little girl into this world. Because of her amazing control of her diabetes, their little girl is living in what the doctors say is a 
"non-diabetic state". 
Help them to raise money to turn Type I diabetes  into Type None. 
Join DUFF on Sunday, March 12th at 1:00 PM at Smythe Park Daniel Island for the local JDRF One Walk! Click this link to register. 


Wear your DUFF shirt or tank and look for us at the event. We will have a table at the event and an obstacle course for all the kids to show off their skills! If you are unable to attend, you can donate by clicking the link above. The walk is 1.2 miles and starts at 2:00PM and goes until 3:00PM.

After 8 weeks of your hard work, we are going to celebrate a job well done for all of our DUFF clients! Bring your favorite cheat meal, and we will bring the green beer!

Recipe of the Month
Easy Chicken & Bell Pepper Saute

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (cut into 1 inch pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 cup of sliced bell peppers
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped oregano
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 1/2 cups of chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted chicken stock
  • 1 1/2 ounces of pitted green olives, sliced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of crumbled feta cheese (optional)
Instructions

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil, swirl to coat. Sprinkle chicken with black pepper and salt. Add chicken to the pan. Cook 7 minutes or until done, stirring occasionally. Remove chicken from pan. Add bell pepper, oregano, and garlic to pan. Saute for 2 minutes. Stir in chicken, tomato, and stock. Cook for 1 minute. Remove and serve with sprinkle of olives and feta. 
*Serve with a side of green vegetables and a sweet potato to finish if off or sprinkle over a cup of whole grain cous cous.*
