Washington County receives federal funds for safety improvements
Nearly $1 million from the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is funding lighting, reflective traffic signal backplates and other safety improvements to increase visibility on four Washington County roadways and intersections.
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) identified six corridors, four in Washington County and two in Multnomah County, for HSIP funding. Corridors in Washington County are:
Work will finish in June. Signal upgrades will require intermittent lane closures.

Comment on the Long Range Planning annual work program
Public comment on the Draft 2017-18 Work Program for Long Range Planning is being accepted by Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) through March 14.
The Long Range Planning Section's annual work program outlines priorities and recommended ordinance topics for planning staff to address. The public is asked to comment via:

Meet the Contractor Open House: 158th Avenue project
158th Avenue Construction Map A Meet The Contractor open house for the 158th Avenue project will be from 5-7 p.m. March 14 at Kaleo Covenant Church, 15900 SW Regatta Lane.
The event, sponsored by Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), provides the public with a chance to meet the contractor,  Kodiak Pacific Construction. County staff will also be available to answer questions about the final design and construction schedule. No formal presentation is planned.
The $8.1 million project will widen SW 158th Avenue, between Walker Road and the Merlo light rail station south of Jenkins Road, to two travel lanes in each direction with a continuous center turn lane. description. The project will include improving intersection safety, continuous bicycle and pedestrian facilities, storm drainage upgrades, street lighting and landscaping. Construction is expected to begin in March and be completed in spring 2018.
