Ma rch 2017
Winter's end is on the horizon and as we turn the calendar into March, activities that began in 2015 have continued straight through 2016 and into this mild winter. Anderson Township's core business district is being prepared for yet another significant year of change as we head into our community's 225th Anniversary in 2018.

More than a dozen public and private developments are underway or on the horizon in this area, totaling over $165 million in private and public investment. This is highlighted by the ongoing expansion and redevelopment of the Anderson Towne Center, Anderson Towne Center Kroger, the Shoppes at the Anderson Towne Center, and the Anderson Professional Center office campus. It's no wonder both the Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati Business Courier have identified this as one of their "Areas to Watch" for 2017.

It's thrilling to witness this dramatic transformation of the community's core, which is being coupled with developments and new businesses across the township.  In an effort to share news of changes in our community, the Anderson Township Economic Development Committee launched the Anderson Business Update in early 2013.  The Anderson Business Update is distributed on a periodic basis, showcasing news and economic updates in Anderson. This edition touches on a few of the most recent additions to our businesses community, and a flavor of what's new and in store in Anderson Township.

Finally, we have included a listing of recent business openings and/or announcements, as well as a listing of available properties in the community.
We are excited about the strengthening of Anderson Township's economic base, to ensure our place as one of Greater Cincinnati's most desirable communities to live, work and play!

Sincerely,

Business Updates
Anderson Towne Center Continues to Welcome New Tenants
7500 Beechmont Avenue

More new stores at the Anderson Towne Center are expected to open soon. Construction on and around the center continued this winter, with the completion of several new buildings on the horizon. Tenants occupying those spaces include Starbucks, Kay Jewelers, Verizon Wireless, and Bentley Pet Stuff.

The new stores join the Ovation by Carmike Theater, Bar Louie and Crunch Fitness, which opened in late 2016 or early 2017. Work is also underway on Sky Zone Trampoline Park (see article in this newsletter), located next to Crunch Fitness. Each of these new additions to the center are planning to be open later this year, and will join new tenants Leyla's Mediterranean Grill and Walton Creek Boutique who have opened in the existing Towne Center.

Elsewhere on the site, construction is scheduled to begin soon on the addition to the Anderson Towne Center Kroger and the Shoppes at Anderson Towne Center retail development at the corner of Beechmont Avenue and Wolfangel Road. Also, construction of an addition to the Anderson Professional Center, with adjacent parking garage, is anticipated to be completed early this Spring.

Public Construction Projects Progressing Thanks to Mild Winter
Beechmont Avenue and Five Mile Road Area

As this mild winter has allowed private construction projects to advance, it has also enabled work on some public infrastructure improvements to continue as well. Starting this spring, work again will accelerate. By April, expect construction to resume to complete the first phase of the Towne Center Way and Wolfangel Road improvements, as well as the final stages of the Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) project at Beechmont and Five Mile.

Those projects will largely wrap up in early summer. Then, anticipate infrastructure work to begin on the following projects:
  • Towne Center Way reconstruction, from the Kroger loading dock area to Five Mile Road
  • Downtown Anderson project on Beechmont between Asbury and Wolfangel
  • Sidewalk construction on the south side of Beechmont between Five Mile and Shangrila.
These projects will continue through fall and likely into early next year.

MainSource Bank Plans Spring Opening
7637 Beechmont Avenue

MainSource Bank, being built at the southwest corner of Beechmont Avenue and Wolfangel Road by Brandicorp, LLC, plans a May/June opening this year. As part of the "Downtown Anderson" section of Beechmont, the 3,500 square foot, $1.8 million building provides an anchor to that corner of this key intersection. It will be a state-of-the-art facility, boasting a blend of modern and classical architecture styles reminiscent to Anderson Township, according to Mike Doty, Brandicorp's director of construction.

Unique features of the facility include the use of curved, modern architectural metal panels, interior glass partitions, and advanced ITM (interactive teller machine) drive thru. The development includes relocating existing, unsightly overhead utilities underground, upgrading the appearance of the neighborhood and community.

Dunk, Soar at Sky Zone Trampoline Park
7522 Beechmont Avenue (Anderson Towne Center)

Anderson will soon have its own trampoline park with the opening of the Anderson Township Sky Zone, tentatively scheduled to open this summer in the Anderson Towne Center. The wall-to-wall trampoline courts are designed as an athletic outing for all ages, shapes and sizes, according to franchisee owner Laura Knipfer.

Activities include Open Jump, allowing guests to leap, bound and soar, Ultimate Dodgeball (a new take on a friendly competition) and Sky Slam (which provides the opportunity to dunk a basketball like the pros).

The Springdale franchise location opened in 2013 and was the first trampoline park in the Cincinnati area. This new location opens adjacent to Crunch Fitness. For details about the business, go to: www.skyzone.com/springdale.
