"My word will not return to me void."

We all like to see results of our work. There is something very rewarding about finishing something, stepping back and seeing our work has come to fruition.

In today's first readings we hear God speak through the prophet Isaiah that his work will be fulfilled. God reminds us that the rain brings about growth and fulfills its purpose so will God's Word.

Here at the beginning of Lent, we hear again and again, especially in the Old Testament reading about how much God wants to heal the world and bring all He had planned for the world and us to completion. The Lord's prayer echo's the same message: "They Kingdom Come, they will be done on earth as it is in." Jesus tells us to pray that God's will be done here on earth.

Take some time today reflecting on what the world would be like if God's will were in total effect now. How would the poor be treated? How would the lonely in nursing homes be cared for? How would we treat strangers?

What can you do to open yourselves to the power of God's word and begin to let it take its full effect in you? How can you be part of God's Kingdom taking root on earth?
