Request for recommendations regarding the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act

Following the introduction of the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act in 2015, six technical working groups began developing recommendations for how employment standards, labour relations, and occupational health and safety requirements could be applied to meet the unique needs of the agriculture industry.

The recommendations of the working groups reviewing employment standards and labour relations have now been posted online, and the Alberta Government has issued a request for feedback regarding the application of employment standards and labour relations to the agricultural industry.

Feedback on these recommendations can be submitted until April 3, 2017.

Lunch and Learn at the Chamber
Tuesday, March 14, 2017
Intro to "Girls Night at the Garage"

Gone are the days when uniformed young men would rush to our cars to fill our gas, wash our windshields and check our oil at the gas station. Now, nozzle in hand, we fill our own tanks, check our own oil, wash our own vehicles and when something goes wrong, we have conversations with technicians, in which we fully understand the scope of the repair, and our rights and responsibilities in regards to our vehicles.

No? Not quite there yet? The time is now to sign up for our Introduction to "Girls Night at the Garage" Lunch and Learn on March 14 at our office.

Ladies, its time to get a little closer with our cars.

Grove AUTOPRO  brings their popular Girls Night at the Garage to the Chamber at noon!   Ladies are invited to join us for an hour of vehicle empowerment as we cover vehicle basics and start the conversation about preventative maintenance.  Light lunch provided.

Member-2-Member Advice: Question of the Month

What solutions have you found to be effective in managing employees in this challenging economy?  Share some of your strategies in an email to us; a selection of responses will be published in our newsletter and on-line.   Answers may be edited for brevity.

Are you getting the best ROI for your Chamber Membership?
The value of a membership with the chamber far outweighs the cost of your annual renewal. Affinity benefits like discounted fees for accepting credit and debit payments provide immediate savings, and Chamber Group Benefits provide an HR bonus for your employees.

But have you taken advantage of the value-added marketing opportunities that come with your membership?

Our annual Tri-Municipal Expo has been providing direct relationship building opportunities for our vendors to the citizens of Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Parkland County for decades.

Tradeshows are a fantastic opportunity to market any business, even if you're a brick and mortar storefront that's been in business since the 60's.

In addition to being an excellent lead-generation tool, it is also a great opportunity to test market new products or services, as well as gain direct feedback about sales pitches and promotional strategies. It also levels the playing field, because every business at a trade show, whether a large multi-national or a sole proprietorship, has a chance to capture the attention of attendees.

If you haven't  booked your booth in the 2017 Tri-Municipal Expo, there's still time to reserve your space, to plan your show strategy and to boost your bottom line in a condensed period of time.
