March Newsletter: An update from CCC
Arthritis Study Enrollment Continues
If you haven't heard about the second phase of an exciting study for a new once-a-month therapy for feline osteoarthritis, please click on the link below.  From our experiences so far, we are VERY excited about the future of this potential treatment option.

All cats screened for the study receive a complete assessment, labwork, and thorough radiographs to assess joints for osteoarthritis.  Cats who show very subtle signs at home often have severe degenerative joint disease, discovered once we properly assess them with joint radiographs. The cat to the left had a subtle decline in jumping and was "slowing down". Her degenerative hip changes proved to be severe, shown in the red circle and at the arrow.

This once again proves how cats are masters at hiding illness. Cats whose pain is diagnosed and treated can have dramatically improved quality of life.
Environmental Needs of Cats
If you've been to Cat Care Clinic, you've likely learned about our recommendations for keeping cats enriched in their environment. This is so important to cat health, to avoid not only unwanted behaviors but also for their long term physical health. We have a series of blog posts with information on how you can better meet the needs of your feline friend.
  Enjoy the four part series:

Speaking of Feeding Time:
Cat Care Clinic now carries a new product  known as the NoBowl Feeding System.  This was designed with environmental needs of cats in mind, particularly the need to HUNT and be active. This ties in well with our environmental needs blogs. The NoBowl website is great and full of helpful information to make feeding time fun for your cat!

Stop by the clinic for your cat's NoBowl System, we're o ffering it at a reduced rate from the online cost for our favorite feline friends!

More Cat Care Clinic Catvocates join our team!
Mark has joined the Client Services Coordinators to make sure you and your cat's needs are met when you call or come into the clinic.  Mark came to Cat Care Clinic with many years of customer service experience, and it shows.  His love of his own two cats and overall compassion and desire to give clients the attention they expect at CCC make him a great fit to our crew.

Note brings even more years of high quality veterinary experience to our Cat Care Clinic staff.  She loves cats (and has two of her own) and our patients love her!  She received her professional veterinary training in Thailand, and became licensed as a CVT here several years ago.  Note helps our other CVTs keep up with the needs of our patients, with everything from diligent anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic testing, dental prophylaxis, to in-patient needs.

Case of the Month

In honor of National Pet Dental Health Month, we've shared the story of one of our very senior patients, Arthur.  A sweet, determined boy who continues to thrive, thanks to close attention to his needs.

Congrats to our latest winner of a FREE YEAR
**Figaro**
Figaro was rescued from a hoarding situation into a loving home.  He had a list of health problems including having FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), severe dental disease, and abnormal lower eye lids that caused chronic discomfort.  He had a dental procedure at Cat Care Clinic along with surgical repair of his eyelid abnormality.  His oral health is now in check and his beautiful eyes are bright and wide open.
We'll draw another lucky winner of a FREE YEAR of Royal Canin Dental Diet ($400 value) in March. Call for more information!

Compassionate Cat Care while you're away:
March and April are busy travel times, so please call us soon to schedule your cat's spot at Cat Care Clinic for boarding. Our facilities are built to not only reduce the stress on cats, but also to accomodate each individual's needs.  Does your cat hate cages?  Do they get scared with sights, sounds, or smells of other cats?  Do they need specific medication while you're gone?  Or maybe they are older and need extra-soft areas to lay, without jumping?  We can accommodate all needs of cats.
Please call with questions, for a tour, or to schedule your cat's stay with us.

As always, thank you for letting us be a part of your cats' care!
