Protect our health care! Notes from today's call & upcoming community forums.

The landscape shifts again

Much has changed in the few days since our Network call. All three branches of government got in on the action today, putting at risk our health care gains, non-discrimination protections for transgender students, and religious freedom.
  1.  House introduces bill to repeal ACA Today, the House introduced a bill that will cut health care for millions of Americans and create a hole in California's budget of billions of dollars. Health Access breaks down the bill's impacts and calls the next month "The Make-or-Break Moment for our Health System"here
  2. Supreme Court sends Gavin Grimm case back to 4th Circuit
Last week we discussed the Administration's rescission of guidance clarifying the Title IX protections for transgender students, which sends a dangerous message to students but keeps the underlying protections in place. Today, the Supreme Court reacted to the Administration's move by sending the case of Gavin Grimm back to the Fourth Circuit. Transgender Law Center explains further here
  3. Administration reissues travel ban After the Trump Administration's first attempt to ban entry into the U.S. from seven majority-Muslim countries was shut down, he issued a new executive order today. The ACLU's David Cole breaks down what's changed, what hasn't, and what to expect here
