March 6, 2017 News & Events

Congratulations to our 2017 Citizens of the Year - Dick and Robin Holt!
Celebration Dinner is Friday, March 24

Long time residents of Lafayette, Dick and Robin Holt have been individually and collectively "giving back" to our community at a pace that is hard to keep up with.  Robin has served as PTA President at Happy Valley, President of the Happy Valley Garden Club and President of the Friends of the Lafayette Library.  Dick served for many years on the city's Planning Commission, Environmental Task Force, President of Lafayette Rotary, board member of the Lafayette Community Foundation, creator of the Concert at the Res and the inspiration for building a permanent stage at the reservoir.  As Robin often says, "Volunteering in our community, it's what we do."  Read the full article about the Holts in the March issue of Lamorinda Weekly.

Changes you should know about where you gotta go....

As of March 1, California code no longer supports single stall bathrooms that are gender specific.  All bathrooms that allow just one occupant must now be identified as "All-Gender".  Larger bathrooms can still be "Women/Men" but not so for single stalls.  In California, the law specifically applies to the circle and triangle that you see on the door but, of course, this will require changes to the wall signs (federal requirement) as well.

ADA (American's with Disabilities Act) requirements can be hard to navigate if you don't know what you are looking for, but when you boil it down, the laws exist for good reason.  If you have a question about your signage, Sequoia Signs & Graphics, would be glad to help you understand the requirements.
