2017 WCMS Dues - Stay with us!
If you haven't already, please pay your 2017 dues!

This is a big year for legislative advocacy. Stay with us to:
* Keep legislation out of the physician-patient relationship and the exam room
* Make your voice heard about patient safety issues
* Fight for patient access to high quality health care

And we're building up our Healthy Healer program. Will include:

* Discounts on counseling/coaching
* Large event with renowned speaker, November 4

There's a lot happening at WCMS - check out our full 2017 Strategic Plan.

Not sure whether you've paid?
Weigh In
WCMS wants to hear your voice on healthcare issues that matter. Only 4 of you voted on the Ryan plan last week. After Trump's speech last night essentially endorsing the Ryan plan, we'd love to hear from the rest of you about what you think. Share your opinions (anonymously, of course). We will publish the results next week.

MPH Program at MAHEC - Interest Survey
Please participate in a survey to assess interest in a Master of Public Health (MPH) program. UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health, and Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) are partnering to better understand regional interest in a two year, in-person MPH degree which could be offered by UNCA and UNC at the MAHEC campus.

As part of a planning process, this survey will assess interest in getting an MPH among individuals in western NC and beyond.

This survey should take less than 5 minutes. By clicking on the link below you consent to anonymously participating in this survey, where aggregate responses will be shared among stakeholders.

Prevent Physician Burnout - How To Reach Out to a Colleague in Distress

What should you do if you think one of your colleagues/partners is suffering from physician burnout? In most cases we keep our head down and ignore it. That is completely in line with our physician programming. The main message we absorb is, "Never show weakness."

I believe we have a moral obligation to reach out and attempt to support our colleagues we believe have physician burnout. It is potentially a life saving conversation.

Here are some tips for exactly how to reach out - what to say and how often to say it - when your partner or colleague has you concerned that they are in the downward spiral of physician burnout.
