Heroin & Opioid Crisis Panel
On
Monday, March 6th at 6 PM join us in the Lecture Hall for an important community discussion on the heroin/opioid epidemic. Attendees are invited to bring questions to ask the five panelists, representatives from Bonfire Recovery, Dover Police Department, SOS Recovery Community Organization, Dover's Triangle Club and Great Bay Mental Health. This program is sponsored by the New Hampshire Harry Potter Alliance.

Colebrook Shooting 20 years Later
On
Tuesday, March 7th at 7pm
, author Richard Carey will be here to talk about his book "An Evil Day", the shocking true story of the deadly shootings that took place in Colebrook, NH twenty years ago this August. Richard teaches at SNHU. This is his fourth book of non-fiction.

"Alice's Ordinary People" documentary screening with filmmaker Craig Dudnick
Filmmaker Craig Dudnick will present his film "Alice's Ordinary People" on
Monday, March 13th at 6:30pm.
The film is about Chicago community organizer, Alice Tregay who worked with Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Obama in his early days in Chicago. Craig will show the film and take questions from the audience about this remarkable figure from our nation's Civil Rights past. The film will then become part of the library's collection for loan.

New Knitting Group
On
Monday, March 13 from 6-8pm
the library will host our first MONTHLY knitting and crochet group! This group is open to anyone who has a love for knitting and crocheting. All levels are welcome! Please bring your precious works-in-progress and any finished objects you would like to show off to the group.
The group will meet in the addition.

New England Irish Harp Orchestra
The dulcet tones of the New England Irish Harp Orchestra will be returning to the library on
Tuesday, March 21st at 7pm.
They were here in 2015 on St. Patrick's Day and we had a very full house, so be sure to get here early for a good seat.

Escape Room!
Have you heard about escape rooms or breakout games? They involve a team of people following clues to unlock puzzles and escape (though you're never really locked in). If you enjoy solving puzzles and working on a team, you'll love this event. We'll be offering one with a literary theme on
Wednesday March 22nd at 7pm.

15th Annual Poetry Contest
The Dover Public Library is pleased to announce the 15th Annual Dover Public Library Poetry contest for grades K-12. Prizes will be awarded in six different categories: Grades K-2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, and 11 &12. Poems will be judged on originality, style and creativity. Deadline for entry is April 19th. Students may pick up information about the contest at the Dover Public Library, any Dover school library, or at our website at library.dover.nh.gov starting on March 22. Peeps are Coming!
The Peep Show is coming back in April! Get your peep diorama plans started and your peeps purchased. There are 4 age divisions for competition: Adults, Teens, Youths and Kids. You can start dropping off your masterpieces on April 3rd. See the online event calendar for complete contest information, including rules and prizes.

It's Tax Time Again!
The Library has some IRS forms and booklets here for you to take for free. We also have a notebook of other forms that can be photocopied for 10 cents a page.
AARP is again offering free tax assistance to anyone who needs it. They are here on
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings from 9am-12pm.
You can set up an appointment by calling 2-1-1 which is the NH Community Resources Line. Just dial 2-1-1, in NH, like dialing 9-1-1. No other numbers necessary. Walk-in assistance is also available as time allows. Assistance will be offered through the tax deadline of April 18th this year. See nhtaxhelp.org for more information on what to bring.

Artist of the Month
Sarah Wormann Pluta is a self-taught artist and illustrator originally from central Massachusetts. Her work is inspired by the colors, patterns, and tiny details of nature, as well as the countries she has traveled to and lived in. Ink and watercolor are her favorite mediums to work with, and recently she has experimented with linocut printmaking. Sarah lives in Barrington.
