Purim Masquerade Ball for Adults
March 11, 2017 6:00 pm

In the Book of Esther, we read that Purim is a time for "feasting and merrymaking," as well as for "sending gifts to one another and presents to the poor". In addition to reading the M'gillah (Book of Esther), celebrants dress in costumes, have festive parties, send baskets of food (mishloach manot) to friends and give gifts to the poor. We will be doing all that and more.  For just $18 per person, you will enjoy a Mediterranean dinner,  adult beverages, music by DJ Jonathan and prizes for the costume  contest. RSVP at  www.thetempleOKC.org   by March 10.

Get Set for Seder!

Sunday, March 26, 12:15-2:00 pm

This year our Temple family will be making Passover seders in our own homes, or going as guests to others. We will not have a community seder at the Temple this year. If making a seder makes you nervous, join Rabbi Harris for a workshop with the basics of how to "Get Set for Seder." Topics will include:

- Choosing a haggadah
- Interactive ideas
- Seder basic food groups
- Making it meaningful for you

Sunday, April 9, 10:30 am

Join us for a morning "Cater a Seder" workshop. Volunteers in the kitchen will help you prepare Passover charoset and matzah ball soup. No need to fear - our Seder Mavens are here!

Judaism praises hospitality to strangers and guests based largely on the examples of Abraham and Lot in the Book of Genesis. The practice is called hachnasat orchim, or "welcoming guests".

If you're still nervous about making a seder or would like to be matched with another Temple family's seder, go here - " Worship/Passover", and click on " I'd like to be invited to a seder" and we'll find a seder for you to attend. If you have space at your home seder for someone to join, click on " We have space at our seder". Just fill out the forms and we'll play
Yenta the matchmaker for a Passover seder.
Eva Hesse
Sunday, March 26, 2:00 pm
Meinders Auditorium at OCU
NW 27th & McKinley Ave

The Oklahoma City University Film Institute's documentary series will open its 19th year at 2:00 pm March 26, with Marcie Begleiter's new film "Eva Hesse" in the Kerr McGee Auditorium of Meinders School of Business. The school is located at N.W. 27th Street and McKinley Avenue.

"Eva Hesse" follows the famed German-born, Jewish American artist at the close of the 1960s as she crests the wave of a swiftly rising career. One of the few women recognized as central to the New York art scene, her work was finally receiving both the critical and commercial attention. Dying of a brain tumor in 1970 at age 34, she had a mere decade-long career that, despite its brevity, is dense with complex, intriguing works that defy easy categorization.
