Spring into March!
Parks and Recreation has great programs for all ages coming up to keep you busy this March.

This is a great time of year to explore your creative side. For kids, we have Drawing with Youth Rembrandts, separate classes for preschoolers and youth.

For adults, take your inspiration from nature and join other writers of all skill levels in our You Can Write: Nature Writing and Memoir class and tell your stories.

For those older adults who are looking to explore what retirement can be like, be prepared with Social Security: What You Should Know Before You Retire.

We have many other classes starting up soon, visit https://secure.rec1.com/WA/poulsbo-parks-recreation/catalog for our most current listings, or call us at 360-779-9898 for more information.

Anderson Parkway Phase II
The City of Poulsbo and the Port in a joint effort, are reconstructing the Anderson Parkway area near the Sea Discovery Center. This project includes the repair of the bulkhead, a stormwater retrofit and paving of the parking lot. Sound Pacific Construction was hired to complete the work for $460,914.00. You may have noticed night work happening in the past weeks to take advantage of the favorable tides. The bulkhead repair is now complete and the stormwater retrofit is underway. This project will finish with the pavement work and landscaping. The City anticipates the contractor will complete this work in mid-March. Below are photos of the efforts.

Viking Ave PRV Installation
Work has commenced on the installation of two pressure reducing valve systems in the vicinity of Viking Ave to allow additional flow in the City's water system from the west high zone to the low zone. Here is a map showing approximate locations of PRVs. The project was awarded to Olympic Peninsula Construction, Inc. for $361,266.62. Work is anticipated to complete in early March.

Liberty Bay & Village Pump Stations
The City is moving forward with the renovation of two existing sewer lift stations. The Liberty Bay Pump Station will be upgraded to include the addition of an onsite standby power generator. The City has also identified the need to make improvements to the Village Pump Station (located on the east side of 7th Avenue NE) which is a 32-year old facility. These upgrades will be advertised in March to solicit bidders for the project. The City anticipates awarding the contract by the middle of April and construction will occur later this year.
