Appointment of Ingrid Fischer as CCA/CDF Director of Business Development  

Ottawa, March 1, 2017  

The Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) and the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) are very pleased to announce the appointment of INGRID FISCHER as Director of Business Development, effective March 1 2017.

Ingrid brings a wealth of experience as a co-operator and an expert in international development to this new assignment. Ingrid began her career in the Canadian co-operative sector with North Peace Savings and Credit Union in Fort St John BC, working in positons of increasing management responsibility over 20 years within the credit union movement in British
Columbia. In 1999, Ingrid joined the international development department of CCA as Asia Region Co-operative Development Advisor, with her first assignment in Mongolia. Her internatio nal development experience grew to include positions as CCA Country Director-Sri Lanka, Africa Region Director, and most recently as CCA Director of Programs (since 2015).

Ingrid's le
adership and management has helped grow the CCA international development portfolio to include projects in more than 12 countries in the Global South, with multi-sectoral initiatives involving credit unions, agricultural co-operatives, national co-operative apex organizations, and policy and regulatory reform. She has provided professional technical assistance and support in management and Board capacity development and good governance practices to co-operatives at the primary (local), secondary (federations and centrals), and tertiary (national apex co-operatives) levels in CCA projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. As CCA's representative, Ingrid has undertaken technical consulting assignments with various multi-lateral development agencies as lead technical advisor on several co-operative development initiatives in the agricultural and credit union sectors.

Ingrid's commitment and passion for co-operatives as an effective model of development make her a natural champion for CCA and CDF in promoting the work and the profile of the Canadian co-operative movement in international development. In her new position, Ingrid will bring her talents, experience and enthusiasm to encourage the support and engagement of Canadian co-op members for our work, and explore opportunities for new projects and programs.
