MATT GLOVER
Making books to engage and nurture the youngest writers
Saturday, August 19, 9 am to 3 pm

Young children thrive in active, hands-on environments where making books is one of many options they can choose during the day.

Visiting scholar Matt Glover expands on the ideas in Already Ready, a book he co-authored with Katie Wood Ray, to help pre-K and Kindergarten teachers discover new ways to help students tell stories, express ideas, and understand the writing process.

KATHY COLLINS
Already reading: nurturing early readers in preK, Kindergarten
Saturday, September 9, 9 am to 3 pm

What does early reading look like-even before young children can decode words on a page? How do we support young children in ways that nurture a love of reading and help them make meaning of any text, whether or not they are reading the words?

Kathy will help early childhood educators recognize and nurture the "reading" that young children do. This workshop expands on the ideas Kathy presents in I Am Reading, a professional text she co-authored with Matt Glover.
