Somersworth Storage, LLC held a Furry Valentine Pet Photo Contest, where Facebook members post a photo of their "furry valentine".  For each photo submitted as a comment on the post, $2 was to be donated to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society.

By Valentine's Day, the photo count was at 696 and the contest ended at a rounded number of 700. Somersworth storage presented a check to Cocheco Valley Humane Society for $1,400.

With more than 20 years direct experience, Tenggren brings a strong financial background and extensive understanding of employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, and employment law to her new role. She holds her BA in International Affairs and Economics from the University of Maine, and has earned her Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certification (SHRM-SCP) and Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification (SPHR). Recovery Center Coming to Dover
SOS Recovery
The recovery community in the Seacoast continues to grow.

SOS Recovery Community Organization (SOS RCO) held an informational session in the conference room of the Dover Police Department about the upcoming opening of its Dover facility on Broadway.  The new facility, at 4 Broadway, on the corner of Central Avenue, will offer a supplemental location in the heart of downtown Dover for those suffering from substance misuse.

WDH Opens Orthopedics, Joint Replacement Practice

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is pleased to announce the opening of a new Wentworth Health Partners practice, Wentworth Douglass Center for Orthopedics and Joint Replacement. The opening signifies the return of respected orthopedic surgeon Robert Harrington, MD, previously with Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. 

Located at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital near downtown Dover, the practice is part of the hospital's Musculoskeletal Health service line, which offers a full complement of orthopedic services to the community, including pre-habilitation and surgical optimization, joint camp education and coordination, integrative therapy, a specialized inpatient team of nurses and rehabilitation experts; outpatient rehabilitation programs in many disciplines, including neurological, orthopedic and post-concussion.

Cornerstone VNA Receives Donation
Cornerstone VNA
Cornerstone VNA recently received a $35,000 grant from the Hannaford Charitable Foundation to support the expansion of the organization's sophisticated telehealth program for patients. 

Telehealth is a technology program that Cornerstone VNA uses to promote patient self-management and to reduce avoidable hospital readmissions. The innovative telehealth software uses a wireless Samsung tablet to engage patients so they only receive the most pertinent information to them and their diagnosis. The tablet also features a camera, which allows clinicians and patients to see as well as talk to one another to quickly address any care needs or concerns.

CAP Presents Awards at Annual Meeting

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County presented two awards at its 51st annual meeting: one to an outstanding community member; the other to an exemplary employee.

Patricia Sorensen of Dover was the recipient of the 2016 CAPSC Champion Award for her work with the Grab n' Go Program. The Champion Award honors a community member who delivers the promise of Community Action. They embody the spirit of hope, improve communities, and make Strafford County a better place to live. Alix Campbell, CAPSC's homeless outreach specialist, is the very first recipient of the CAPSC Mission Award. This award is presented to the employee who is the most outstanding contributor of the CAPSC Mission to educate, advocate, and assist people in Strafford County to help meet their basic needs and promote self-sufficiency.

Bank of New Hampshire Donates to Reading Program

Bank of New Hampshire is proud to support Frisbie Memorial Hospital with a $3,000 donation towards their Reach Out and Read program. Reach Out and Read is a nonprofit organization that trains and supports medical providers who give books to children, ages five months to six years, and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.
