Scripture: Hebrews 11:1
Seeing the Unseen
More often than not, I'm afraid, I identify with Thomas's desire to see and touch Jesus after his resurrection. Like Thomas, I long for evidence. If I can understand, I can deal with a situation. If nothing about it makes sense, I struggle.

Hebrews 11 reminds me that following God may mean stepping into the unknown, trusting that God is there and will show the way. It's a bit like walking through a heavy fog where visibility is limited and progress slow. As we move along, the fog eventually lifts. A clearer vision is revealed. When life becomes tangled, faith has to take over. Some things never will be understood in this lifetime. We have to trust and hope for the day when all will be made clear.

God's Word tells us there will come a time when all is revealed. We will know. Everything will make sense. The fulfillment of our faith will be our eternal home with God.

During Lent, it's appropriate to examine our faith. This is a time for honesty with God. It may be that even those who know us best do not see when our faith is weak. God sees and knows all about us. Only in and through him, can we move forward in complete faith.

Prayer: Lord, give us faith to follow, even when nothing makes sense. Amen.
