PWP UNVEILS GT-5 AT FEB. 24 RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

PWP commemorated its new combined cycle turbine unit, known as GT-5, at a ribbon cutting ceremony held at the Glenarm Power Plant on Friday, February 24. Members of the community, dignitaries and executives celebrated one of the city's largest and most complex capital improvement projects in recent history.

The new unit, which officially commenced operation on December 20, 2016, uses both steam and natural gas turbines to produce the most environmentally "clean" unit in its class and provides Pasadena with the ability to generate power locally within minutes. GT-5 replaced a 50-year old steam generating unit known as Broadway 3 which took 72 hours to start up before it could generate power. Local hiring was a vital part of this project. Nearly 20% of the workforce hired consisted of Pasadena residents and businesses and more than 400 jobs were created.

UPDATE YOUR WATERSMART PROFILE TO BE A BETTER WATER USER

Customers living in a single-family residence currently receive a WaterSmart report that shows household water usage compared to similarly sized households. But did you know that if you took a few minutes to update your profile to accurately reflect the number of people in your household, age of water appliances and outdoor usage patterns, you can get more detailed analytics that will help you learn how to use water more efficiently and save money?  An updated profile will provide in-depth information including a historic trend analysis, seasonal use comparison, and a pie chart illustrating the estimated water usage in each area of your home.

The WaterSmart report also provides information about available programs, incentives and workshops available to PWP customers. To get started, click here.
